Hey guys I just heard from a longtime friend of mine called Tim Gaynor. He has started a new Shortwave Station transmitting from Halls Creek near Tamworth. Frequency is 3210. I have not heard it but will be looking out for him. I have asked him to join this group.

Carl

I wonder if he's transmitting from the 2NU site just beyond Halls Creek.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Possibly. His transmission power is 1kW daytime and 100W during the nights due to licence restrictions.

G'day,

Oh, I wish I was!

No. I'm around 40km out on Halls Creek Road towards Bendemeer which is around 20km from me. Lot's of rolling hills here Wink

Many thanks to Carl for letting you know about what I'm up to.

I will also air old time radio series too, American ones mostly.5 minute mysteries and X Minus 1 sci fi series from the 50's.

I'm waiting on a new antenna to strengthen signals south and north of the QTH.

I'll keep you all updated,

Best regards

Tim Gaynor

Welcome aboard Tim. Tim and I worked together in the early days of 2You FM in Tamworth . Many days of entertainment were had by all. I was one of the Original Disc Jockeys come trainer and team leader and I tell you what at the age of 19 it was a awesome time. I lay claim to discovering Tim when I was walking through Big W in Tamworth in around 1984 when I heard this incredibly clear voice coming over the pa system advertising wares to the customers . I actually went to the service desk to ask who he was and could I meet him and it all went on from there hey.

So one question. Where abouts on the dial would this be on the older dials.

You won't find it on the majority of Australian valve radios.

I have a suitable radio, and there used to be another station on 3210 kHz a year or two ago. It was Vintage FM (nothing to do with this forum) which is now on the lower reaches of the FM band here in Sydney. Now that I know Unique Radio is there, I will have a listen next week.

Nice to hear about this, at now 7.55pm can just hear a faint voice. Not sure it is the station in question or a harmonic.

Hope it continues.

Edit ....10 or so mins later hearing music, still weak though. I am located in Bathurst.

Regards,

Hi Simplex,

What sort of radio and antenna are you using?

I'm getting an even better antenna next week.

I expected it to be in Tamworth today but unfortunately not.

USPS told me it was in Sydney last Monday but it took AP a 5 days to receipt it.

I think Easter has held it up in customs etc.

I appreciate your report though

Best regards

Hullo Tim & Carl,

I'll have a listen for it though I don't have much of a set at that frquency. I'm at Toowoomba. What antenna do you use Tim?

Small world. I acquired an N&D set and a G250 (I think) audio osc from the AWA Ashfield clearing sale, 1990ish, which went to 2YOU via David.
