Hi Tim,
I am located in Bathurst and was using my KX3 amateur radio with a horizontal loop aerial. The loop is tuned to higher amateur bands and not very effective at 90M.
However another vintage radio/ham friend of mine whom I texted about your station has told me he was hearing your station quite well. I do not know what radio/aerial he was using.
Saturday last was camped out on a hill located in the Upper Turon near Sofala to take part in a ham radio contest and was listening again on the KX3 with a half wave dipole.
Heard the radio serial X minus 1 (pretty graphic !) and a music session, quite enjoyable.
Unfortunately the KX3 only has a tiny monitor type speaker.
Back in Bathurst now and I'll do a bit more listening with other radios and aerials.
Cheers, Nick

Hi Does the station run 24/7? Listening tonight about 8pm,
I have a lot of noise on the band, and can’t hear a station (near Brisbane).

Hi Everyone,
Tim Gaynor here , the creator and owner of Unique Radio Halls Creek 3210kHz.
I've updated the antenna to a half wave end fed design about 30 metres in the air today. It seems to be getting out ok and a bit better than it did with the other antenna, locally but not sure on DX how it is. I got a report from Brisbane saying it seemed be be better there.
I may have to experiment a little to find the best antenna setup for everyone. Reports from Moree and The Gold Coast, suggest maybe not such an improvement. It's horizontal at the moment and facing Northwest/Southeast. I may change it tomorrow based on reports.
Technical equipment:
Sorry for the late reply Guys.
I'm running a 100 watt RF Electronics 'The Fox' shortwave exciter/ transmitter coupled to end fed wires of different lengths. One is 35.5 metres and the other is 44.80 56 metres which is running at the moment, roughly a half wave. The 35 metre length is coupled to a 9:1 UNUN toroidal box which is the one I had originally on air.
I'm thinking the current wire may be directional ( Being longer) , which might mean why some listeners can hear it and some that previously could now can't.
Programs wise I like variety and everything from old sci fi series, oldies dxers and swl shows and even aspergers and life programs.
I don't run news but I'm thinking about that one and whether it's even needed!
Something different is, on offer that's for sure!
Any suggestions welcomed.
I come from a community radio background but I'm currently also working in disability work.
Thanks Simplex and Graham, GTC , Gclulow ,Carl and everyone else here, appreciate your comments.
Many thanks
Tim

Finally got the chance to try listening to this station, on Monday and Tuesday just gone. To summarise, nothing was heard.
Plenty of other stations about, but not even a hint of a carrier on 3210. I'd guess the station was off the air.
To compare, 2TM Tamworth was pushing 9+10db. 2NZ Inverell was almost 30db, and stronger than most of the Sydney stations. 100 watts from that area should have registered something.

Hi, For the first time I believe I heard it in Ipswich near Brisbane.
A very faint male voice. It would be worth verifying if there was male speaking on the station at 7:45pm on 24th April.

What's the current rule for station identification? I remember when you had to give your call sign at least every 10 minutes.

Had a bit of a sniff around with a Pioneer car stereo that has Shortwave, Couldn't hear it, with a 10m long aerial, but also noted that I couldn't hear 2NM which I can usually pick up with valve sets, so maybe its just a poor receiver (not surprised).
I will have to see what valve sets I have that go that band.
Location is about 1km from the 2TM tower.
I will try again when its dark.

Hi Art, REDXM and gang
Yes it's an all male ID which would be me
It has been widely heard in QLD as it gets out better in that direction, Sydney is a bit hit and miss and RedXM you, might not hear it too well in Tamworth either due to the topography here, all hills and limited groundwave coverage.
A technician and / or antenna person would be handy to me at the moment but I'm making do with the knowledge and materials that I have on hand.
Amateurs around Bathurst and one or two in Sydney are hearing it. It's just not heard on small whips as yet, locally.
So if anyone wants a challenge to build me an antenna please let me know, it would be appreciated.
You can contact me on 0455 488 331, anytime , leave a message if I don't answer and I'll get back to you.

Hi Graham,
it's on weekend nights mostly but maybe attaching a wire to the antenna leading outside might help.
It's a bugger of a frequency for noise and the like. Try Friday, Saturday or Sunday night
I do know David L formerly of 2YOUFM.
He was the president there prior to me but I've also moved on. I'm not sure if he's in broadcasting anymore.
Yes it is a small world
thanks for the report
best regards
Tim

I had another listen on Monday and yesterday just gone.
That part of the band is subject to gross amounts of noise, and hash from nearby TV sets, so I had to wait till after 10pm.
On Monday night I could hear a male voice, plus some other voices, and snippets of music. However the signal strength was mostly 0, occasionally bouncing to 1 at around 11:30. The readability was quite poor though, so even though I listened till midnight I was not able to decipher even one word.
On Tuesday night (last night) there was no carrier detected.
There's some overseas stations on the band, on 3250, 3260, 3325, and 3480 kHz. The station on 3480 (People's Radio, North Korea) is the strongest.
The location used was at Hill Top, NSW (near Mittagong). The antenna is a length of wire running the length of the garage and connected to the garage roll-a-door metalwork. The receiver is a Kenwood TS-930S.

People's Radio, that's a laugh coming out of North Korea - is Kim broadcasting his propaganda to the rest of the world?

Not unless the rest of the world understands Korean... I assume it's for the "benefit" of South Korea. However, there's a half-hearted attempt to jam the station (i guess by S.Korea), but it doesn't really do much.
