Voice of North Korea is broadcast in English and other languages. You just have to listen at the right time.
If you haven’t listened you’re missing out. You can imagine the announcer has gun to his head.

A good rainfall here in Bathurst which has washed down the power line insulators and my noise floor on 3.210 is well down.

Unfortunately could not hear Vintage Radio, unbelievably there is some sort of birdie smack on the frequency, get rid of one interference and another pops up !

Saw radio N. Korea being mentioned and have heard this station at times on other higher frequencies. Usual gabble about Dear Leader and his latest nuclear bombs, rockets et all.

Still handy to listen to from time to time and see what they have to say.

If WW3 breaks out N. Korea will be the one to listen to.

Unfortunately could not hear Vintage Radio

It's Unique Radio, and it only broadcasts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays, opening at 4pm each of those days.

Hi Robbbert,

I appreciate your report.

This past week it's been fed by a Diamond Vertical but previously a horizontal 'Droopy'

end fed arrangement. This Saturday I'll try the wire and see how it goes.

The signal seems to travel Northwest, West and North mostly due to topography of the transmitter site.

Thanks for trying Smile

Hi Redxm and guys,

Unique Radio broadcasts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays, opening at 4pm each of those days.

So doesn't operate on Thursdays generally.

You might also be interested that a new station will be on air from QLD in around 4 to 6 weeks or so. Frequency 5045kHz.

No not mine but another operator from Sydney.

Many thanks for all reports and appreciate any reports forthcoming Smile

I think Redxm was listening last Sunday night.

My only opportunties for listening are Monday and Tuesday nights, so that generally means no chance to listen to Unique Radio. I was fortunate to make my report for Anzac Day night.

I wonder what schedule this new operator on 5045 will follow...

How did you go David?
Near Brisbane, I’ve got real bad machine noise about 2 of 4 times I tried.
I think I heard signal tonight, and I think also voice, but interpreting the intelligence was impossible.
If the band was quiet here I think I’d have done ok. It’s covering about 1MHz width.

Had a listen, the carrier was audible at 7pm, and listening started in earnest at 10pm. Strength was better, hovering around 2 or 3, but readability is still the problem, unable to understand any words. There was some music played and a bit of talking.

I think the problem is low modulation, sometimes it seemed there was just blank carrier for a while.

At around 11:30pm, loud QRM started to creep over the frequency and shortly after I had to give up.

So Tim, maybe you could do something with the modulation levels? Perhaps some compression like the commercial operators use. Also more power would help.

Tim, ACMA indicates another licence on 5045 in the Picton area SW of Sydney. The new one is North of Bundaberg.

Picton is quite close to me. I listened to 5045 on the 22nd in the hope that the Qld station might be testing, but nothing was there.

For those with old radios, as an aid to tuning after dark, 5000 carries WWVH time service, and 5020 has the Solomon Islands radio in English at good strength.

ACMA also lists three holders of 3210, and oddly, they list the Picton and the Bundaberg area locations as well as the Tamworth area one.

Tim, are you an up and coming entertainment mogul?
