Hi Robbert,

yep I get 4835kHz with excellent signal strength mornings, mid afternoons and evenings.

Yep, a 50KW transmitter would certainly help things Smile

best regards

Tim

I have to apologise, it seems that 4835 is no longer on the air, in fact it appears that all the ABC NT shortwave stations have shut the door.

Therefore my comparison was entirely invalid.

So, my last words on reception are:

3210, unusable here.

1647, too much QRM to have any chance of hearing you (plus the existence of another station), unless you're planning on running kilowatts.

Hi Robbert,

yep they went off around August 30th.

I'm not altogether sure they won't be back. There is some talk that maybe it could just be for maintenance,
but I have also seen some conjecture that certain bloggers might have got it wrong too.
Time will tell I guess.

No need for apologies and yes 3210kHz wasn't my choice of frequency but rather ACMA's idea!

Noisy and hard to propagate on low power.

Thanks for your reports however,

best regards

If they've closed for good, maybe, just maybe, here's your chance to grab some good gear!

EDIT: You are correct, the stations are back on-air.

Just got back...

9265 started well, strength about 7, peaking at 8.5. Heard the news then some songs and talk, something about the Bee Gees. The voice of Aussie Tim and the "brekky show". However by 21:30 the strength had dropped to 5 and some annoying QRM was starting to be heard. By 21:55 it was down to 1 and no longer readable. Didn't improve over the next hour.

3210 - no reception.

Seems like transmitter improvements have been made...

Listened on last Friday night, 3210, signal strength of 3, at 22:00 heard a radio comedy, then a song, 22:30 then someone talking. I couldn't make out most of the words due to loud QRM. After that I watched a movie on TV, when that finished at 00:39, came back but the frequency was vacant.

Then Saturday, nothing on 9265 (must have been a one-off special), but 3210 strength of 1, could hear people talking for a while, but at around 22:20 or so the modulation was lost, just a carrier. Tried again at around 23:00, the same.

Listened on Friday, Saturday and Sunday just gone...

Friday 3210 - no reception

Saturday 3210 - no reception, 9265 - no reception

Sunday 3210 - no reception, 9265 - about strength 8 for 2 hours before fading out, boring religious stuff (it isn't from Tim's station).

When I say no reception, I mean - totally nothing, not even a faint carrier whistle on sideband. It's as if the transmitter was switched off. It's a pity, because there was almost no noise on the channel.

After investigation... if you look at the schedule on their site

http://www.uniqueradio.info/schedule/

it says they now only broadcast daytime mornings only. Not sure if the page is current, but if so, it means there is now no chance whatsoever of any DX reception.

Hi Robbbert , Carl and members,

I've moved everything to Gunnedah NSW and newly licenced for 5045kHz.

5045kHz will happen when I buy a transmitter and antenna. Hopefully soon.

3210kHz is off the air and the licence has been surrendered.

3210kHz will re-appear in Northwest NSW but not under my name. I hope to lease this transmitter when available (Negotiations underway).

As there is minimal interest in shortwave in this country, I will further assess whether to continue with it but my interest is still there so it will probably happen Smile

I also hope to attract some paying producers from around the world.

Take care everyone Smile
