Welcome to Northwest NSW Broadcaster Unique Radio 5045kHz , 9265kHz via WINB Saturdays 1000UTC and coming soon 2368.5kHz which will be our overnight frequency once activated.

NB - I'm aware of the interference problem emanating from 5040kHz to 5060kHz . A very badly tuned transmitter coming either from Jeypore India or perhaps Cuba. Lasted around 30 minutes December 8th 2018 and heard at various other times. Nothing I can do sorry.

We are also in partnership with Hobart Radio International who provide programming and logistic site help to Unique Radio. You can find Hobart radio International at : http://www.hriradio.org/

We broadcast on the Australian HF domestic frequency of 5045kHz on Mondays , Wednesdays & Fridays ( from December 7th) at 0900 hrs UTC ( 20:00 EADT) and on alternate Saturdays & Sundays from 08:30 hrs UTC (19:30hrs EADT) ) using around 120 Watts into our inverted 'V' antenna to serve Gunnedah and approx a 500 or 600km radius . Anything past this distance would be regarded as fortuitous reception. January 1st having a break then recommencing from January 14th 2019 with a more frequent schedule.

We also broadcast on 9265kHz from WINB Red lion Pennsylvania to North America and The Pacific ,Saturdays from 10:00 hrs UTC (9PM EADT in Australia)

Programming from Unique Radio and partner producers can be viewed by pressing the 'click here for podcast' button below.

So, your station has come back to life.

I'll keep an ear out for it if I remember.

5045 is quite a noisy channel now, with an interfering station on 5050 that pops up now and then. 4KZ on 5055 at night-time is quite listenable though.

2368.5 could be interesting, although of course it's also on a noisy band.

I really don't know why they don't allow you to try out higher bands during the day that are on existing valve radios, since those bands are largely empty during that time and will reach most of the country.

Hi Robbert and Carl,

Unfortunately , ACMA dictate what frequencies are used for domestic HF broadcasting in this country.

Yes the interfering station on 5050kHz is China and the one on 5040kHz is India so can't miss a trick hey?

Still on air from the States via WINB Saturday night 9PM EADT or 8PM QLD time and 8:30PM IN South Australia on 9265kHz.

See if you can pick that one up.

Might like to try LSB for 5045kHz. The various SDR radios online can pick it up ok including Freemans out near Windsor NSW and
VK2BBS at Newcastle and the ones in NZ after 9PM our time pick it up too but not always clean and with sidesplash unfortunately.

Many thanks

Tried listening.

Sunday 9265 nothing heard.

Monday 5045 LSB, I listened from 19:10 to 23:00, your station audible though not very strong. I could recognise the various songs played, but had difficulty understanding the speech due to the hash. No interference from other stations. Started at signal strength 1 and by 20:00 the strength was 4 which was how it stayed until the broadcast ceased at 23:00

By comparison, 4KZ and WWVH both on strength of 6.

Wednesday 5045 LSB, turned on at 18:43, already transmitting but difficult to hear because of the lightning crackles. Watched TV for a while, came back at 22:36 to listen to the end, but the transmission had already finished early.

Nothing received on any frequency over the last week.

Perhaps you are on vacation.

Back on the air.. last Tuesday good strong signal, about 6 ; Wednesday much weaker, about 2.

On Tuesday I noticed the frequency was off (low) by about 50 Hz.

Overall, the broadcast on 5045 LSB is much more easily received than the AM signal ever was. Is the proposed 2368.5 broadcast still going to happen?

Still absolutely nothing heard on 9265, but perhaps I haven't been listening at the correct times.

Hi Robbbert,

Yes conditions seem to impact signal strength and at times can be poor to fair and then quite ok some days/nights.

The 9265kHz AM signal is from 9pm to 11:30 PM , Saturday night , but it too does suffer poor signal and ute interference at times, coming from Red Lion PN USA.

Yes 5045kHz LSB seems easier to pick up.

2368.5kHz is to become 3210kHz , which was the former frequency , but I'm seeking to use LSB on that one as well once ACMA approve the change.

Ah, ok. I found that 2368 is on a quiet part of the band, so I was looking forward to hearing you there. 3210 is rather noisier.

5045 is still received quite well, although your frequency tends to vary up to 100 Hz high or low from one day to the next.

Please let me know when 3210 is available.

Just went out to the garage to listen, and you're clearly audible on 5045kHz USB.

Playing the song "Wings of an eagle".

Strength, about 4, sometimes peaking to 5.

There's an AM station on 5040, but it doesn't cause any problem.

Midnight Edit: Still good reception on 5045 - the change to 3210 didn't happen.
