Nathan,
Do you search on EBay and Gumtree? I'm sure they'd turn up on there occasionally. Craigslist might be worth a try too, though I don't think many people use it nowadays.

I don't usually see a tonewheel Hammond on Gumtree or EBay very often, and when I do, it's a lot of money to spend, and money I don't have

Lady I know has two in basement, model No's on back: C2 & A-101
From churches, have not been fired up for ages.
Not sure how desirable these models are but am told they can sound "same as B3" with "capacitor Mod to get 'Click' effect"?

Well, if you can get in contact with her, I want the A-101 for free or the C-2 if I can't get the A-101

Not sure how desirable these models are
The A-101 is essentially a B-3 in a domestic cabinet with in board speakers. If an A-10x series comes your way grab it with both hands.
The C-2 is an earlier model than the B-3 but is also very worthwhile having.

As I've said earlier, don't expect to find dirt cheap tonewheel organs in Oz as you can in the USA. Far fewer were imported and sold here than were sold in the USA and those that have survived here in good condition are in demand which keeps their value comparatively high.
The only way I would expect to pick up a cheap tonewheel in good playable condition locally is if the seller has no idea what they are selling. However, the Hammond brand is very well known so it would be unusual for a seller not to have done their homework before they put one up for sale.
(And if you want money, you need to get out and earn it. When I was 14 I was mowing lawns after school and on weekends for pocket money. Dad let me use his mower but I paid for the petrol and I ended up mowing the lawns for most of the people in our street.)

Thanks for info & tips on A101.
Glancing in the back, it appeared to have dual audio power Amps, black speakers (more beefy magnets than those in C2's Tone Cabinet) and an extra level of tone generation assembly. All adding up to a heavy item!
Her cousin told me about them he said "they have mould from years in often damp cellar" (didn't seem too bad to me). At house, her quote: "I don't go down there", but I did, camera in hand, not fearing mould.

I always associate damp with cellars. Not the place to store those organs!
She should be actively encouraged sell them to somebody who will restore and look after them before they deteriorate any further.

Visited this place a few years ago with her cousin and organs were in exact same placement as she "never" descends the stairs nowadays. We hauled up an almost all-tube Zenith colour (c.1970) - heavy - with large power transformer & metal chassis ( as Zenith vowed in '60s never to stoop to printed circuits). It worked right off the bat but I couldn't use it & offered it on Craig's. A ~19yr-old kid came with his mom to pick it up Talking with him he turned out to be a "Television Savant" (knowing reams of factoids about things decades before his time). After talking about Zenith's detestation of printed circuits, I tested him by asking: "what was the first TV to use a printed circuit?" He surprised me by saying "RCA CTC4 1956" which agreed with my understanding!

Another friend has an actual B3 which he'd cut me a good deal if/when he sells it because of help I've been fixing it and other things. As he uses his Yamaha & resident pianos when he plays retirement homes weekly - and often takes along Seeburg rhythm generator (foreground) (sounds good but no variations & fills of course).
Said he bought it in 1964 and this one was rented out previous year by Organ dealer for touring Lawrence Welk Show. I asked "Did they give you a discount this being a Demo unit?" He said "No, I paid $3000"

Does not have a Leslie, only its original Hammond Tone Cabinet all this time since 1964. Upper manual sounds very "dry" to me on all presets (maybe not chorusing correctly or something)', no doubt needs going through with service manual - and could also use a Leslie of course.

It probably needs oiling, so get some Hammond oil onto it and see if it works then, but tell him to get it modded for the Leslie and buy a Leslie, if you ever get it, and you want to sell it, could you cut me a good deal? I'm not one for spending thousands of dollars on instruments like this, but if I had $150 or more I would buy it for cheap, get a Leslie kit and half moon switch installed and buy a Leslie, if hand Hammond hasn't been oiled I'll put 1/4 drop of oil into the generator and hopefully it will free up the tonewheels

Speaking of Hammond oil (my 422 had an unused tube of this in it) (how many owners never oil them until they squeal?).
I also have another rare oil bottle from the 60s, Ampex Oil! for tape recorders. Alongside an older oval can 50s? of Liquid Wrench - still use it.
