What a great organ you have Vista!, Try registering it at full organ and volume, with no vibrato, but the chorale of the Leslie, or set it up for Whiter Shade Of Pale or something, Or that Spencer Davis Group song GImme Some Lovin

I didn't think of Youtube GTC. This link shows the ad I remember.

There were rumours that the mechanics at Amoco stations would reverse the final filter inside the canister and fill the next mug's car with the sediment instead of cleaning them in the workshop - in order to get their car in for a premature service.

Frankly, I suspected that there wasn't any filter there at all. Just a bulge at the end of the hose with a label on it. But I have to admit I've always been cynical when it came to the product claims of petrol companies.

The old Amoco adds bring back memories. A friend of mine supplied a lot of the old cars for Australian movies and commercials in the 1970's, including a cream coloured coupe used in an Amoco commercial.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWmAPvgxABo.

He restored the outside and his wife did the interiors including sewing the upholstery. A real labour of love as he didn't make a lot from renting them out but loved seeing his cars on the big screen and TV. He had about 30 or so vehicles which were all destroyed in the 1977 Blue Mountains bushfires.

Since there's so much interest in this I should start a retro-ad forum in the near future. There'd be a boatload to have a discussion about.

"Amoco thermometer"

Says 'Standard' inside the Amoco logo, like some service stations (no longer exist as well as 'Amoco', due to massive BP buyout)

The disappearance of Amoco means value of thermometer doubles Grin

Says under logo:
'Home Heating Oils with Sta-Clean (nozzle cleaning additive?)
Thermometer given out by heating oil man in 1950s when heating with oil (diesel) was cheap, now would cost $2- per hour with, say, a 0.8 gph nozzle in the burner.

If you can find original Hammond oil it's good stuff! It's still out there in the small plastic tubes of bulk bottles as one post noted.

Nathan,

If no-one has been able to assist by now there's a chance we can't help. I've visited the Australian Hammond site though they don't have forums, which probably also doesn't help much.

If you enquire to them they may be able to point you to a site like this one that covers organs in greater depth.

The original Hammond oil, which was reputedly made from whale oil that is much prized by watchmakers, has not been manufactured for decades. However, Hammond-Suzuki sells tonewheel oil under the Hammond brand and that's what I have.

It's available from various US suppliers such as Tonewheel General Hospital.

There are numerous forums on the Web for those interested in organs of all types, and there is a Yahoo Group dedicated to Hammond.

Just noticed:

2012 Woody Allen film has cool Hammond version of "Amada Mia" throughout.
DVD version kicks off with Hammond Cha-Cha tune on menu page.
Then film opens with nice Hammond version of "Volare"!

Classic keyboard makes for easy to take soundtrack Smile

Movie is "To Rome with Love" check it out

"T series .. for cheap or free"

If you see one, save it as poor prices/weak demand threatening Hammonds Sad
