I should have made this comment a while back. I am not sure if this applies to televisions but if a collector has a complete (or near complete) set of a given model of radio then it raises the sales potential of certain models that would otherwise go cheaply.

For example, I have an almost complete set of AWA 500M/516M Radiolettes. One each in the colours walnut, ivory, jade, cream, burgundy and turquoise. One colour marbled ivory is missing (very rare colour indeed). I also have one walnut 4 volt vibrator set. That said, if I offered these radios as a job lot for auction my chances of getting a good price would be better than average. The same goes for the set of Healing 401Es I've been trying to collect for more than ten years. At the moment I have walnut, black, burgundy, mottled yellow and mottled green. Three of these sets are a dime a dozen but the addition of the yellow and green make this group of radios together worth more than they'd be individually. There's still four or five colours in this model to get and it'll probably be another ten years before I manage to get the lot.

In the case of the AWA P1, picture (pun intended - it's just after midnight!) a television collector who likes these sets getting one of each colour plus one of each badge-engineered colour. Such a collection may in years to come be quite beneficial to its owner.

Also, there is a current discussion on a P1 derivative here.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
