Hi, I recently acquired an AWA P1Y portable valve black and white television from the local recycle centre. It is complete, clean and in excellent condition but it does require a service. Would anyone have the circuit diagram or service information for an AWA P1Y? I would be very grateful as I plan on starting by replacing the electrolytic capacitors. I have a VCR with a vhf modulator to provide a signal for it. Kind regards, Sam.

I'll have a look when I get home from work.

Here are some PDF's of the original P1 TV & TB tuner manuals of 1965.

AWA P1 Television Service Manual
AWA TB Television Tuner Service Manual

I'm not sure what the differences with the P1Y are, but this should be a start.

Here is a discussion that indicates there were several derivatives of the P1.

Also here for other Px-series receivers.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Thanks again Monochrome and Brad, I have started ordering repacement electrolytic capacitors, as well as replacements for the couple of wax capacitors. This is my second black and white valve television. The first I serviced is a 1965 Astor Devon Fringe console set which still had the service information inside the cabinet. It is working well.
