Help!

The 1970 vintage Radar TV Replacements line transformer in my Kriesler 79-2 has failed.

More specifically the EHT winding has broken down across the side to the winding start wire. Not repairable, too much smoke has escaped!

Maybe an EHT winding from another transformer of a type that uses a separate EHT winding? This one is layer wound, approx 40mm diameter.

110 degree Philips AT2016, AT2108 or even AT3102 might be candidates to donate a winding......?

TV is not my thing & I did offload a pile of (clutter) stuff that did have EHT stuff in it, much of brand new, might be something in that? That member may see this?

That's a shame about the transformer dying.

Finding a 70 or 90 degree line output transformer is nearly impossible these days. I do have a few Philips NT3101A 110 degree transformers which could provide an EHT overwind or adapted as a replacement.

Another alternative is to remove the overwind and connect a tripler to the top cap of the 6CM5. I've never tried it but it apparently does work. It may require some adjustment of the tuning capacitance in the circuit for best results.

The TV stuff Marcc is referring too, I picked up. It was all colour TV parts so not much use for your Kriesler.

I had thought about using a tripler but the EHT works out at about 12kV - a bit low.

Could I buy an NT3101A from you?

Strange, others have contacted me successfully, could you re-check your spelling?

I am getting mail from two other members and it is actually hosted by gmail so should always be OK....

The mailto: link is working for me. It won't work for those using webmail services though. You need to be using a programme such as Outlook.

Is this the flyback transformer? Driven by the horizontal output tube, feeds the deflection yoke, EHT winding to make the very high voltage for the picture tube, and B+ boost. Runs at the horizontal "line" frequency.

I am using Outlook. But strange things happen I have had NBN since July & in that time the tower has failed for extended periods, four times. Three on, or close to a Lightning event, for which I see no form of "Umbrella" Interesting as it is now the tallest structure in a lightning prone area.

The EHT transformer is normally the one with the Ultor cap that supplies EHT to the Picture tube.
