Many manufacturers had the habit of changing things through the life of a particular model. There is an article on that here. Sometimes there is little reason for the change except that the person responsible for the change wanted to justify his existence. Well to tell the truth Brad the change has deleted 4 hard to install screws so that's a bottleneck deleted.
