I have a 1938 STC sales manual which I had not thought to look in because the 5035 is not in the 1938 AORSM.

The sales manual has the 5035 cabinet, a console, and 5035K circuit with line-up 6K7 6A8 6K7 6B8 6F6 and 6G5 eye.

The cabinet picture (same as http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/17396807) shows the layout of controls knobs which may help to show if this is the chassis that you have, but without the eye.

It looks like you might have a 5031 chassis with a 5035 valve line-up in a table model cabinet. Question then is, was this an STC offering or someone's custom model.

Plot thinning!

Regards
Graham

Graham's circuits for 5031 and 5035 have clarified things.
This set uses the 5031 circuit - all the same part no's and components - but with the 5035 valve line up.

This set's going to need a bit of work. So far i've found 3 coils in the ant. rf osc assy open circuit. A previous 'fix' has routed the aerial direct to the grid of the osc. converter 6A8.
Also 1 if is not original.
The set does work tho' - sort of.

Tim
Great. The best thing about "works tho' - sort of" is that at least the mains & speaker trannies and the speaker field winding are OK.
A fuse in the speaker field winding line somewhere is a good idea in case of shorts.
Look forward to the pic.

5031 repair update
CAP'S Replaced all paper and electro's.New 630 v axials put inside old cases, end spaces padded out with cling film then topped up with wax to look original.
OPEN CIRCUIT RF COILS - unwound winding rejoined (soldered ) where green spot corrosion was. Rewound crosshatch fashion onto cardboard bobbin so can slide up and down on former for best coupling.
ALIGN If at 450kHz. Tried to get osc tracking- ok at 1600 end (signal input via 220 pf to ant. ) but 550 signal smeared out over half the band, and padder had no effect.
Set on a station at about 570 by 'rocking' and adjusting padder.
Set is working on all bands - maybe not ' as new ' but ok.
Now I need to recondition the rather complex dial mechanisms.
Will post a list of part no's for full originality in case someone has spares.

Yes, as far as I can tell.
The layout of controls and knob shape ( domed ) is the same as image you sent me, namely, STC 5030k - 38 sales manual. 2 knobs and switch needed . I have original tuning 2 piece knob.

Nice cabinet. Light timber used in NZ looks better than dark timbers STC used in Oz.

It now looks like your radio is "kosher" in all respects. Probably a model that the practical and commercial realities have meant was not recorded in any of the documentation now available to us.
