Capacitors for Hotpoint P65 MEQ AGE radio

Hey Guys, I need to replace them in this radio. Do you guys know what I need to purchase to replace them? Please see attached pictures. Cheers, Jake

Please see attached pictures. I see no pictures ... in either of your duplicate posts. This forum doesn't provide the means to attach pictures as such. You can either load them onto a hosting site like Photobucket or Flickr and post the links here, or email them to the administrator as per item #6 in the instructions under the Quick Reply heading below the last post in each thread. I don't have any data on a Hotpoint P65, but I have quite a bit on the Hotpoint P64, which looks like this: Please check that model number again and confirm that it is P65.

I still don't recognise any P65 model, so cannot provide circuit data. The only Hotpoint/AGE set with clock that I am familiar with is P64MEQ or P64MEC: A photo of the front of yours would be helpful. It may be an uncommon variant of the P64 series.

It is not unlikely that the unit was built by AWA and like Bandmaster. May show up in their literature with an AWA number. Marc

Okay, it seems you have an undocumented model, or the documentation has been lost. I'm guessing that it's close enough to the P64MEC so if you use Control Panel to unhide your email address I'll send you the P64MEC schematic and notes.

With cap voltages, you can go a bit higher, but never lower. As for capacitance, old sets will usually tolerate a +/- 10% to 20% difference, so 22μF should be okay. EVATCO in QLD has 22/500 http://www.evatco.com.au/webcat1p12.htm#Sprague_Series_716

As they are being used to filter the DC supply, use electrolytics as per the specs. And take care to get the polarity right before soldering.

You can use Metalised Polypropalene (yellow 630V) to replace the paper type. I assume that has a 6X4 or similar heater rectifier, so 450V Electrolytic is okay, lower is not (as said) It may also have cathode electrolytics, they should be replaced as well. HRSA Radio Waves (current) has a photo of an AWA 461M with a clock in it. Cabinet has lots of similarities to GTC post 4. Cosmetic changes to the face. Marc
