The Chrysler Royal !
They were nice in two tone!
My background was in sports and racing cars originally.
I've restored more cars than I want to remember.
But I'm a Mopar fan and I had a AP6 wagon fully imported. It was a beautiful car and in new condition ,
I also had a couple of S series one rare manual and I owned a 1957
Buchanon Cobra of which there was only 7 made and mine was number 6.
All gone now ! Divorce!
I dont play cars anymore ,but I did get too build and restore many great classic 50s and 60s cars ,both for a job and for my self.
Gosh who can afford to do it now !
Everything classic is so expensive now.
I saw my AP6 sell again recently and I even met the buyer . 24K

G'day Pete.
My first car was an AP6, had it for two years, it was like new, only issue was the valve stem seals allowing a bit of blowby at start up.
I was run into and ended on a set of traffic lights in Toowoomba, the other driver decided they needed to cross two lanes at high speed and turn at the intersection, only problem was that I was in the way.
I seen a two tone AP2 go past me on the way home from work one afternoon a few weeks back, coffee colour, very classy.
The prices sure have blown out on classic cars, I have seen an EK Holden selling for $28000.
I heard on the radio one day, a bloke saying people should be looking at investing in classic cars, better returns than some of the other options.
The two Pontiac's were made in Brisbane by Holden. The 66 Parisienne had a fisher body, so was assembled in Brisbane rather than built.
Even some of the things like canister sets and Barsony black lady lamps, are now so expensive, shame we didn't keep the ones we had.
Heather had around 60 full sets of Nally ware and Gay ware canisters, and the Barsony lamps are now priced at the same prices I was buying 1950's cars for back in the 1980's
Enjoying all the cabinet restoration instalments Pete, keep up the great work
Cheers

Haha hey Pete!
Im a 1950s collector from the spoons to the light switch!
No mod cons at all ! My daily driver TV is 62 and the fridge is 57 and the list goes on and on.
I started collecting it all many years ago and ran a furniture business selling mid century.
I have a couple of black lady lamps and many jet age lamps too.
My last house was completely decked out that way .
Gayware and Nally comes in waves . Sometimes I have seen a sets sell for 400,,,depends whos hanging around.
I have a few sets here , but I dont sell anymore , this is my own collection of 20 years.
Now TV cabinet, few more days and I will put on anther post . Most TVs or radiograms of 50s and 60s were finished in a Glaze .not a stain as such . The reason they did this is because the trend was to have even colour and bright new post war new colours.
To get away from the drab years.
Im glad the cabinet Restoration is a interest to you .
All the best Pete.
Ps gone are the days of $500 chargers! And EKs at 500 bucks !
Gosh I wish I had bought a 1969 VF 2 door and put in the shed. My ego needs that now desperately!

Yes a bit of an ability to look into the future, would be a good thing.
We still have a small collection of 40's through 70's items.
lately it has been 1910-1930's items we seem to be drawn to.
I have a Kriesler 121-55, 79_5B Computermatic Super Fringe that is a very deep rosewood and that piano like finish, so I would imagine it is a glaze, as it is like you said an even colour, I assume it is Nitrocellulose, how many layers, would they use to get this finish, it looks very deep.
I have a few days left at work, then two weeks off.
Turning one side of the garage into a radio (amateur radio shack) / music room, so it get almost 30 sq metres, compared to the tiny area I have been using for a few years, the other side of the garage was converted into the main bed room a few years back.
will have lots of bench space and some where to put all the test equipment as well.
Have to move the rafter residents, two green tree snakes first, before I put up the ceiling.
So I might, if I can get it finished in the first week, hopefully find some time to get at least, one of the tele's up and fully working, the 121-55 is a good candidate, as it does work to a point, the height drops over time. I need to replace the paper caps to start with, the cabinet is like new, also have an Astor 3in1 I would love to get stuck into, it take pride of place in the lounge room of the shed.
I have a Breville Tele with radio gram, I will post some pic's it needs the cabinet restored and most of the metal strips are damaged, so that is another question, those metal strips on cabinets.
I have to recap my Vadis guitar amp and do some fault finding around the tremlo and reverb circuits, I tend to like surf/shadows guitar sound a bit too much, the Goldentone amp needs a bit of work.

G Day Pete,
I just spotted your tellies on the previous page, nice ! Well looks like ya need a bigger shed ,me too!
The 3 in 1, looks like a opaque Glaze in oil varnish...
Send me a close up pic some time
Your black lady figures belong at my place ! Send them along, haha
I have that 50s ashtray in green! And
Yes mate, the computermatics are a Glaze, but its a very easy Glaze to make that one as long as the cabinet in good condition, because its a translucent oil varnish Glaze on those models. If you need one ,i will send you the formulas to make the glaze.
Nice finish they are!!
I have 1962 Kriesler in Rosewood.
Must be nice living up there where you live?
Good part of the world ! And a bit more down to earth then around here.
Heres my Kriesler.
All the best Pete

G'Day Folks.
Sorry for the late reply.
Been busy building the radio shack / music room out of the old garage, flat out on my two weeks annual leave.
The room came up better than I thought it would, room for the 1962 Kriesler fringe master in Rosewood the guitar amps and a few consuls and table radios, plus all the amateur radio stuff and the test equipment.
A few more months and I should be able to attempt some cabinet interaction.
First day back at work. and catching up with all the postings.
Thanks Brad for posting the Pic's and Pete for the details on cabinet restoration, very concise, I haven't found info like this anywhere else on the net, at least on radio or television sites.
Cheers.

Hi all,
This project as been delayed, due to the water damage on the glue and veneers from being in the Attic as mentioned earlier.
Im trying to locate some yellow stringybark thats the right cut to replace the water damage veneer.
Because the old veneer is not going to last on a new finish very long .Its just to brittle and rotten in one area😥
