You are more likely to lose your wallet in the street or leave it behind in a shop for someone to pick up. Or be pick-pocketted.

On line transactions are safe if you take precautions.

I also use Paypal but I have added the extra level of security where it sends a 6 digit code to my phone as verification for each transaction.
It's not infallible but far more difficult to hack and if the vendor won't accept Paypal then I back out.
