How stupid are Australians ?
We have let all our manufacturing leave our country to you know where to the point where there now is a shortage of even face masks for the police to wear.
The QLD police have been told by the heath department not to use face masks because there is not enough of them to go around.
Plus use hand sanitiser sparingly and hold out for the virus to peak.
Plus if they come in contact with person who has coronavirus then put the mask on that person not them selves!
A ship load of masks did arrive from the Yellow Peril and the masks were all faulty and have been sent back .
But it's all our fault because for years we have watch all our manufacturing leave this land and no one said Boo.
The milk and farms are Chinese owned!
Than any icons with have left we let the government sell it too the Chinese.
Plus Australians are are as tight as a fishes bum!
They will go into a shop and buy these cheap Chinese products without looking at the big picture.
It's terrible that the police and the hospitals can't even get such simple things.
We talk about changing the flag, why not just hoist a Chinese one up and fly that
No I'm not racist, my wife is Asian.
But we are stupid as a nation for allowing it to begin with.
If one good thing comes out of coronavirus I hope it's we wake up as a nation and be more independent to employing our people and supporting Australian owned business and companies

Here is the news link regarding the masks

Pete, the whole world is the same at the moment. Under Barack Obama, the US motor industry eroded almost to the point of no return. Factory after factory closed down. Detroit, once a car-making mecca, is slowly building up from a virtual waste ground under Donald Trump.

Retailers here are just as much to blame. They are chasing the cheap dollar rather than supporting local operations. The shelves of our supermarkets are loaded with imported product. Yes, there's still lots of Australian roducts but both Coles and Woolworths are doing their utmost to just chase the dollar sign and roger their customers.

The ad linked below played on our televisions for a long time. It's pointless it being played now, unless the Nation as a whole is prepared to stick it to China and do something about it. Personally, I don't mind paying more for a product to be made here. A lot of the younger generation actually prefer stuff to come from offshore - beats me as to why.

Advance Australia

I have said it time and again, that all we have done since the Menzies era ended, is run the country into the dirt & sell it off & adopt any thing that does not work.

As I noted a few days ago. It is interesting that Scomo said farming was an essential service: I have yet to see that on the list of valid reasons to be out or declared in writing. If you want to get fed, we have to be able to buy stuff to do that and its not necessarily food.

The hypocrisy here, lays in the fact that the average age of the existing Farmers are either side of pension age: They are not being replaced. What is happening is that they are being forced out by a deeming rate that is worse than what the banks were doing, to cut their pension below the poverty line & forcing them on reverse mortgage so they get the Farm, and chop it up for their developer mates or sell it to some overseas interest like China.

When I look at Grape & Fruit picking, which I have had experience in. We need back packers as the younger generation here can't handle, or wont do it: that's fact. They would rather sit around like zombies texting imaginary friends. There are 1500+ jobs around here, principally semi skilled and there are no takers?

On top of that, our wages and conditions are so good, that we have priced ourselves out of the market and the only way to compete is lower the dollar. The more wages go up, the less we are competitive in the world market, so no wonder overseas is cheaper. A lot of this goes to Globalism and the UN saying that global inter dependence, lowers the risk of war & other hot air.

Suddenly we have a Government that has just realised this folly, that has been staring them in the face for decades.

Pete I whole heartedly agree with your opening comment..
We make nothing in this country except for warehouses to store all this Chinese rubbish.
We should be prepared to pay a little more for products which are made locally and create jobs.
Cheap Chinese poorly made products are a false economy and just increase the landfill problem when they fail.

In my career with several companies I saw the rise of the Asian import.
The Japs started it first and realised fast that they better sell a good product, hence cars like Toyota ect.
Look where they wound up, biggest auto manufacturer in the world. Top product, last forever.
Other Asian countries got the message, good quality, competitive prices hence good quality TVs, aircons ect.
Then we get to the Chinese.
Their motto is send poor quality sub standard batches of product and if the stupid round eyes complain just send more.
Cant sell that stuff to the ruling class other wise the military will come around and factory owner disappear!.
Trust me that is what I got direct face to face.
Then we had Aussie purchasing departments who only look at the cost, and the Chinese suppliers love stupid Aussie purchasers.!
That way you get product that looks like European product but simply does not work or last.
I spent many years just laughing at samples and telling management "you simply cannot sell that it wont work"!
To get the reply, BUT its CHEAP!
I reckoned that all the Chinese had to do was up the grade of their product by 10% and they would match Jap, Korean and European imports and have no problem, but IT IS NOT IN THEIR genes to do so. They have an imperative to sell fake or cheap goods, they cannot help it. To make a great deal and profit is the thing not to see a happy customer.
Transistors, fuses, fittings you name it.........….all right size right shape, but don't work to spec when you test.
I used to find BC107 dies in 2N3055 cases just for an easy example, right beta on a low current test, blow on a full Imax test.
Fuses of all sizes from 1 amp to 20 amp that don't blow with 50 amps test! Just 2 examples of complete rubbish, but its cheap.
Batteries that don't meet AH testing. Whole batches sent back to supplier and marked by us.
New shipment of batteries arrives, so solly we do much better for you his time...………...unpack batteries SAME BATCH with our marks!
Never bought from supplier again.
And stupid round eyes just love cheap stuff and buy it in droves...…………………..
Stop buying cheap clothes, cheap goods, cheap batteries, cheap baby watchers, cheap toilet paper and anything from China!
Fred.

The words Designed in Europe are a dead give away lol.

Chinese priority is for you to buy it. Whether it works or not is of no consequence to them.

Their Attitude is not like the Japanese no. I use to buy and sell a bit with the Japanese.
Never was disappointed In the Quality or the or their attitude regarding buying or selling products.
I have a wonderful tool collection that has taking me years to obtain and for me the best tools in the world are from Japan.
The worse tools are from China and anybody who has a passion for tools agrees.

And I have a 24-year-old Mitsubishi that works perfectly. I would have never bought an Australian-made car, they were too unreliable. And of course I wouldn't consider a Chinese one.

One thing the Japanese car makers got right from the beginning was fuel consumption!
Their cars were also fun and easy to drive.
Not like a bulky commodore with heavy steering and the gearbox and clutch were a real heavy dog of a thing to drive compared to a Japanese car, Also jap cars held their value and were so easy to sell. When I worked as a mechanic I would often buy and sell cars on side for extra money and the jap cars would sell like hot cakes and the fords or Holden's would sit there for months ,
We use to have a saying In the car industry.
Commodores are like ass holes , everybody's Got one .
People would buy them new on the never never so a second hand one was hard to sell

When I bought my first brand new car in 1970, I chose a Mazda 1200. It drove very well and it was fully optioned on the showroom floor. Back then, Jap cars came standard with heaters and radios, which were expensive options for local cars. Additionally, the quality of the interior was streets ahead of local stuff.

Except for a short digression with an LC Torana that I bought from my mother, I have driven Mazdas ever since.
