I recently sorted a Roberts (Refer SC soon) that has back bias. Make absolutely sure its the right way around if it is? The most negative will be the battery & that means the common rail will be positive.

Cathode caps have a notorious habit of losing form just like the filters. That is why I keep saying replace all Electrolytic caps.

That radio might be a Conlon, and it's definitely immediate post WW2. Not pre-war, the ARTS&P and components tell you this.

Conlon, like other similar manufactuers of the time, often used war surplus valves that were available cheaply.

Guys the fellow that recovered this radio for me goes under the business name Jims Leather Craft. He is in the ACT and his work is beyond examplary . I alway believe in paying what a job is worth and he has turned a sows ear into a silk purse. I cant wait till I get all the nice little extras to finish this off.

Well I have had the dial reprinted (with Harolds Help) and it looks exceptional. I have sent photos and I think you will agree that Harold did a awesome job of the photo shopping, without his help I don't know how it would have turned out. I must learn how to do this myself.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Yeah I'm pretty proud of this baby Smile .

If it was anything more complex I would have got Michael Ranaan to do this as his work is Magic.

Yes! Have you seen Michael's collection? Awesome!

He did an Airzone Radiostar cabinet for me many years ago, the 2nd radio I ever restored. A real basket case it was too!
The cabinet had a hole drilled in the side and a very weathered finish.

I still have that radio.
