A gentle reminder that the narrow version of Vintage Radio and Television will be closing down forever on the 31st December, 2016. From the 1st January, 2017 only the standard version of the site will be available. For those running older monitors with a 4:3 aspect ratio, you have roughly 30 days to upgrade your monitor.

All members should view the standard width site, located at https://vintage-radio.com.au/ now and test that the site works for them. Everyone has had plenty of notice regarding this so once the big day comes I will not expect to entertain a discussion on extensions of time, etc.

Moving back to operating only one version of this site will mean extra time next year to complete some new features that have been repeatedly put on the backburner. Whilst I will not at this time commit to a due date on these things, with only one site to manage and hopefully a slightly more relaxed work schedule in the new year it will be possible to find time to finally finish things off. These will include:-

1. Attaching JPG and PDF files to your comments.
2. About half a dozen extra fields in member profiles.
3. Ability to add one's own submissions to the service directory.
4. E-mail subscription to chosen forums and/or threads.
5. Ability to add/change one's own avatar.
6. Brand new content for Receiver of the Week.

I look forward to the implementation all of those new features.

Are you able to see who is still persisting with the narrow site?

The logging system doesn't record which URL each visitor enters via so whilst that could have been implemented I didn't bother with it as retention of the narrow site was only requested by a few members. I am hoping that everyone has upgraded by now, as it has been a couple of years. There has been a large banner on the narrow site for a long time to provide some encouragement with this.
