I got a very pleasant surprise this week. I rang the furniture restorers that are doing the cabinet for this set to ask how much I owed him and he said its free because the young fellow I rebuilt "The Civic by Eclipse " for has decided he was going to refinish this cabinet as a thankyou for his beaut old console.
Isnt it great in this day and age that someone can do that for you hey.

The thing that I like about yellow caps is that one can see at a glance that some refurbishment work has been done. Capacitors for the most part are under the chassis, where they cannot be seen by anyone but the serviceman, so it is a case of as long as the capacitors are new and working, she's all good. I wish the electros were still made in the older sky blue colour so the same could be said of them.

Nice set, love the dial at night on those, sound great too, speaker & output trans maybe common, was already replaced on mine when arrived
Only difference I can spot on mine (R82) other than the pick up posts is the positioning of the horizontal bars across the speaker cloth...mine are about 10mm from top & bottom...maybe a slightly different model..?
Should've have read the other 4 pages before posting..it is a different model albeit almost identical!
Nice job on the speaker! Cant wait to see the finished case.
