I've re-enabled the redirection to the SSL version of the site as of today. Please let me know if you have any troubles connecting as a result of this. It may as well be SSL-only again as we know this redirection wasn't the cause of the site instability. The new site is done and the forums will follow later today.

A couple of 500 errors today around 7pm. Came good 15 minutes later. Pale Moon
I like the larger font on the home page. even if the links wrap onto 2 lines

Okay, a small compromise here, again, only until the forums get shifted to the new site. I've shrunk the font on the new site by one point and this seems to work. I'll leave it at that over the Christmas break, as I am unlikely to be on the site for the next few days and we'll see how things go.
After Christmas I have two busy weeks at work ahead of me, including working weekends. After that, work on integrating the forums will begin.

My aim with the larger font size is to help with those whose eyes aren't what they once were and I admit I fall into that category these days
For most people if you're not needing reading glasses by age 40, it's almost a cert you'll need them by 45.

The menu bar still wraps in FF. It can wait until you get time
including working weekends
Throughout my career, I studiously avoided any job that required me to work weekends. I didn't mind putting in very long weekdays but, bugger them, the weekends were mine. As a boss of mine used to wisely say: "The cemetery is full of indispensable people, and you're a long time dead."

I'll get Sundays off though unfortunately I work in an industry where out of hours work is inevitable. I've also pretty much never had a job where I'm not on-call. It's just one of those things. There's certain perks to make up for it, some official and some unofficial.
As is sometimes said, it all works out in the wash.
