the Thread heading remained 'bold'

It's always been like that for me, I just press F5 if there's lots of unread threads, and the read ones become unbolded.

... interesting .... I don't claim to understand what is happening here ..... but all unread Threads were always 'bolded' .... read Threads were always 'unbold'. Ditto at the Folder level. I thought that it was a fairly standard process on Forums, hence my surprise this morning.

I will try (to find) my F5 key ........ Smile

AHA!!!

If you instead click the link to go back to the forum you are looking at, the Unbold feature works BUT sometimes the site locks up when you do this.

So maybe it's me that keeps crashing it??

after having read a Thread and returned to that same Forum .... the Thread heading remained 'bold' .....whereas, in the old system, the heading changed to 'unbolded'

I'm not sure that was my experience. I habitually refresh the page to get the unbolded feature to show me which new/unread threads I have yet to read.

That function hasn't been changed, and will be carried across to the new forums when they are built.

The only 'fix' I can think of would be to clear the browser's page cache. I've often got this problem when developing a site and browser caches know how to make a developer's life a complete misery at times because they remember pages that simply no longer exist.

Re Firefox, I'm still seeing the large font. Logged out and in again, but same situation.

I'll do a screenshot tonight and show what it should look like.

Yeah it's still big letters for me too. Also the choices near the top (Home, About, Discussion Forums...) wrap around to the next line.

In IE11 it looks much neater.

Also, the one time I tried to access the site yesterday it was frozen. But today it's fine.

Ah ... figured out my 'bold' vs 'unbold' issue ..... I was using the Back button ====> Thread etc remained 'bold' If I use the "Go back to ....." link, then all good .... I will put that down to forgetting how to use this web site ..... Smile Smile Smile

As per Ian R comments .....

I get the same FF symptoms that Robbert mentions above, but format is OK (albeit large) in Chrome and Opera -- although Opera claims the certificate is invalid.

I have emailed screenshots from FF, Chrome and Opera.

According to Firefox the certificate is valid until 27/7/2018.

Most browsers though will complain if the certificate is a home-made one, (not from the high-priced companies), even if it's perfectly valid.

I think I know your problem - whilst on the new site, zoom to 80% and clear browser cache.

It should look like this, which is identical to Edge at 100% zoom.

If I adjust the zoom it changes globally and the discussion forum pages end up with too small a font.. The discussion forum font is just right. It's only the new home page that's a problem. If you look at the images that I emailed you, you'll see that Chrome and Opera are formatted OK, albeit the font is much larger than the forum font size.

Hmmm, you are right. Zooming is on a per site basis. I am not sure how to handle that as changing the font size on either site will upset other aspects of it. I may experiment with temporarily shrinking the font on the new site until we reach the stage where the forums are moved over and then revert to the original size once the old site's gone.

My aim with the larger font size is to help with those whose eyes aren't what they once were and I admit I fall into that category these days. Perplexed
