I remember that tune, and the marching and the daily recital of God Save the Queen and later Advance Australia Fair - I started school around the time of the transition between national anthems. There were harsh words if we marched out of line or dared to speak to the kid next to us. All that tradition died out by the time I entered high school and I get the feeling most schools only fly the national and state flags because they are required to.

I remember that tune
Every time I see the movie 'Bridge on the River Kwai', I'm reminded of primary school, which I guess is a whole lot better than being reminded of a POW camp.

Until last year I worked at a private school for about seven years. Their army cadets, mainly third formers, marched to that tune during drills every Monday afternoon. It's a song I'll never forget as my office was located on the oval the Cadet Corps held parade on.

I remember starting primary school with God save the Queen and finished it with Advance Australia Fair.
I went to 2 different Primary Schools, I remember marching into class in grades 1-3 but 4-7 were just once a week assembly and not any where near as formal.

They wouldn't have dared play that tune in my school. Would have been a good old sing-song!
They played "Blaze Away" (I'll make a Bonfire of My Troubles) to march in.

Thanks for the photos. Under-chassis is pristine, right down to the 5/10/64 date.

I was pleasantly surprised at the underside as some local stuff could be pretty ordinary
underneath in their layout, 1 cap was faulty, replaced it and away she went.
All the other caps measured fine, havn't had a chance to test the valves as yet but did manage to find some spares in amongst my stuff.
Reminded me a little of the Philips underneath (still hoping to locate one at some point)
Will probably refinish the Hammertone case in the future and match the Philip speaker metal 8" speaker cabinets to match.

I do have some piles of stuff left here, from a now deceased Radio Club member it has been picked through but I think there is a chassis from one of the six valve Push Pull versions in there & a couple of Kilogram style Line transformers.

Sounds like a Philips 100w 6x 6CM5, had seen a slave version of that.
Have got the 6CM5s and 12AX7s!

I did collect a few spares for mine. Looking at the Bland, that transformer with mounting plates each end looks a lot like one in that lot I have so the pair may be out of one. I know the old guy (proper tech) was involved, with others, in maintaining the PA in their Church & likely several others.

What brand is that transformer? I can't recall ever coming across one like it.

Kilogram style Line transformers
What's 'kilogram style'? Are you referring to a weighty transformer generally?

From what my dad told me Bland actually made transformers, so the transformers in the Amp
would have been made buy them BUT could have supplied transformers to other manufacturers.
They would also make transformers for equipment that no longer supplied spares.

Interesting. So, the label on that one shows 'Bland'? (Can't quite tell from the angle.)
