I just don't think that this sort of behaviour should go unpunished. When they tried this with IE :
"
United States v. Microsoft Corporation, 253 F. 3d 34 (D.C. Cir. ... At trial, the district court ruled that Microsoft's actions constituted unlawful monopolisation under Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit affirmed most of the district court's judgments.

I still don't understand the issue. Edge is already a part of all Windows 10 installations, except in the EU. All that has happened is that the version of an app you already have has been upgraded to the latest version, just like any other part of Windows is when Update does its thing.

There was a big difference back in that antitrust judgement.
Back then, the most common browser (Netscape) was not free - you had to buy it. So then Microsoft introduced IE as a free alternative. Their mistake was to say that IE was part of the operating system - if you removed it Windows would break. This meant that Netscape had no chance of competing with a free product that had to be there.
It was later found that IE could in fact be removed (or at least deactivated), but the judgement didn't help Netscape - they went bust.
Fast forward to now, and all browsers are free. Edge is not a required part of Windows, and you can uninstall it if you wish. IE 11 is included with Windows 10, even though it's never publicised. So there's no antitrust anything, nobody loses any money, because nobody makes money out of browsers now.
As an aside, you can install Edge (bleeding-edge beta) onto Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 if you so desire, and it will auto-update with its own updater (not windows update), same as Chrome.

No, in fact NOW you cannot.
"nobody makes money out of browsers now."
Well that's not entirely true. M$ makes money from click tracking which is why they bought the Chrome engine.
But I might just as well whinge about the oil companies and supermarkets ripping us off for all the good it will do.

The Left has a go at Coon cheese every second year because it fits into their warped social engineering agenda. The brand name Coon is derived from the cooning process which ages the cheese at an accelerated rate and has nothing to do with being prejudicial to Aborigines. The virtue signallers have been told this thousands of times.
When Arnotts went on a fit of wokeness and changed Golliwog biscuits to Scallywags and took the chocolate out, the biscuits lost market share - go figure.

As recently as the 1960s there was a brand of fertiliser called ABO.
With an (in)appropriate logo on the bag.
When queried, the maker said it stood for "Always Buy Ours"...

Just did a Windows update and the same thing happened. i.e tried to get me to use Microsoft Edge. Hopefully got rid of it as quite happy with Firefox and DuckDuckgo.
There has been browser wars going on for years. When I was using Nortons as a virus blocker Nortons tried time and again to get me to run their browser.
Not forgetting Google Chrome trying to become the default browser.
Keeping Firefox as default browser was something of a battle at times.

Think about it. WHY would they want you to use their own "free" browser so badly?

All the browsers ask to become the default. As I've said before, when the product is free, the user becomes the product. There are exceptions to this rule, of course, but usually not when the provider is a big multinational company who wants to make lots of money.
