Sydney radio station, 2CH, went to air on the 5th February in 1932 with a temporary 1000 watt transmitter manufactured in Germany by Telefunken, though this was soon replaced by an equivalent unit made by AWA, as they owned the station and had a significant transmitter manufacturing operation.

2CH is currently celebrating their birthday on air and this station remains one of the oldest that has broadcast continually since opening.

2CH is currently the leading radio station catering for the 35+ age bracket and is currently owned by the Macquarie Radio Network along with sister station 2GB.
