I've been carrying out some site maintenance today and decided to do a few small changes on the sidebar and these are as follows:-

1. You will now see a message in red text below the heading "Recent forum activity" that states you have unread posts. This will show automatically if you are signed in when there is a new posting in any forum. This means members no longer need to browse through to the forums themselves just to check on unread posts.

2. I have removed the old 'register' and 'retrieve lost password' links from the sidebar as these have existed in the top toolbar for a long time now and there's no need for more than one set of these links.

3. I have placed a condition on the information under the new heading "Community" where this information on the site's membership will only appear to members who are signed in.

4. The sign-in form has been slightly redesigned.

5. I have removed any stale code from the sidebar - code that has at some stage either been replaced or is no longer in use. This keeps the code as easy as possible to maintain and means the site will run as quickly as possible.
