I have just noticed some discussion about these. I went to Greta in 1974. Last month on a trip around Australia I visited the area and could find very little trace of the school! Not sure now whether it was the same camp that was used by the Army and Migrants or a seperate one. Also attended another School out east... Goulburn I think. Amazing what a difference 40 years makes , but I really expected to find more history

I'm familiar with the area but I'm not sure about the PMG training school. Greta will soon be bypassed by the link connecting the F3 Freeway at the Newcastle Interchange to the Belford Bends bypass on the New England Highway. With this we may end up seeing more of the towns in this area become forgotten as has happened on the Hume Highway going south of Sydney.
All the abandoned road houses and the deterioration of the 'old road' seem to be a sign of progress.

PMG recruitment exam was held at high schools (tough, more like private school level maths)
I didn't make the cut. Maybe I didn't pass the psych questions

I was a PMG T.I.T. in 1967 along with 200 others. The PMG school in WA was on the corner of Lord & Parry Streets in East Perth. Spent 25 years in the job!

I'm a little tardy with issues such as not having being born at the time,
and also having to learn to read, write, and attend regular schooling,
but have completed the first module, so if you find one, please let me know where to send these:

Art, oftentimes I cannot read or make out details in your linked Photobucket images. Is there anyway that you can post them such that they can be expanded?

It depends what you see when you click the link.
There should be a plus sign bottom right of the image
that makes it just a little larger, and then the plus sign should say "view original" next to it which should blow these right up.
I was going to email them but your email is hidden.
Basically, I've completed the first chapter test questions "Sound Waves".

GTC, if you drop me an email, I'll send it.
Mine should be unhidden.
If yourself or any other PMGs will help a little I will commit to completing it.
I know that it becomes progressively difficult, and may take a long time,
but it isn't nuts, I've already benefited.
Relayautomatic has been of great assistance but there are reasons why he can't communicate often.

No, I don't get any controls to allow resizing your images, even when I'm logged into my own PB account. It must have something to do with the way you're posting the links?
I wasn't employed by the PMG, although the comms course I was doing in 1970 involved a few hours per week of training in basic telephony at a PMG training school -- most of which I've now forgotten at the detail level.

I can probably see more options if it's my own account.
The only other way is taking smaller chunks of things.
The main thing I got out of the was a clear definition of an
object's resonant frequency.
It's the frequency of an object that requires a wave of the
lowest energy to vibrate with the wave, and I suppose it's the
exact same principal that applies to antennas,
and how an harmonic of a resonant frequency still presents a
peak.
Skipping ahead, it's also interesting how they got a two way
speech circuit to work with two wires instead of four,
and introduced the problem of side talk.

For the information of GTC and any other interested readers, I have been able to scan both Telephony I and Telephony II PMG training manuals. They are split into a series of PDF files totaling 22MB. My e-mail address is in the Members List if you want to have a copy (for historical research of course).

OMG, those TOCs sure bring back memories of the PMG classroom.
Hey Relayautomatic, do you remember what Tool 22 is used for?
