Hi all,
I have an HMV D33A table model radio record player in my workshop. Would anyone have a schematic for the receiver, plus the turntable is 78rpm turntable which has a couple of large 11MF caps that I assume are for the motor.
Not sure if anyone has come across these before, but I’d appreciate any info.
Cheers
Scott

Schematic is on Radiomuseum. Non-members can download a limited number of these.

Double click on the schematic for instructions:

Thanks GTC, yes I found it after posting here. The turntable is still a mystery

The schematic at Radiomuseum is a two page AORSM abridged version.

The HMV D33A service manual is ten pages.

Looks like another pdf for Kev!!

Thanks
The turntable as I have mentioned above is something I’ll need advice on. It’s a single speed 78rpm with a small motor and 2 large capacitors rated at 11mfd - no indication if they are polarised or not and no voltage rating. They are around the size of a D cell battery and are mounted in a Bakelite holder.
Cheers
Scott

Do you want to consider replacing the 78-only TT (with its rock-crusher pickup and 11 mfd caps containing polychlorinated biphenyls which are highly carcinogenic) with something newer?

I have a few spare TTs, maybe one of them would fit. Yours for free, but will probably need the usual lube job and a new pickup cart.

Hi Ian
Have thought about replacing it yes, given the size of the record player I’m not sure what would fit. Alternatively, I could just restore it the way it is for historical purposes.
Maybe better to email me directly as I’m still curious as to how this turntable actually works.
Cheers
Scott

Hi all
I have had a further look at this HMV D33A turntable. I have managed to get it to run on 110V (unsung a step down and connecting it to the 100-120v tabs on the motor. The 220-240v connections are dead. I gather the caps have something to do with all this. I’d like to get it working properly so any advice is appreciated.
I uploaded pics back on September 11, 2017 that show the motor and caps etc

Thx Scott
