Some good news on this one

After replacing all resistors on the right channel we have a quiet Right Channel again !

Old Noisy Carbon Resistors ?! - I did find a couple that were over 20% of what they should be.

The leads of the original resistors were very black and tarnished making accurate measurement quite difficult..so decided to just replace them all to make sure.

I must say I was as careful as I possibly could be wrt to the rare as hens teeth Germaniums when heating close by Lucky all good with a fine tipped soldering iron. Thinking about it now ...I dont think I would swap these transistors..only unless I had replacements on hand.

The Rhapsody sounds pretty good now...and quiet at zero volume!

I have a lot more work to do to be finished - will add a switch to allow a Logitech Bluetooth/Aux Input..the module will be mounted on the back out of sight - it has its own power supply pack - I will attach a 4 way socket board to the back of the Rhapsody to plug into.

Also going to install a Fused IEC Mains Power Switch Plug , this will give some protection to the Primary and also allow a plug in power lead.

Then we have the BSR Turntable to recondition/maintain and fix..have a new Cartridge and Stylus ready...hoping its no more than a clean and relubrication needed - (quick check shows turntable motor runs so motor is not seized)

Then I have to strengthen one corner of the cabinet as some kind of water damage locally around one of the legs...may use some plywood in that area. Lastly a clean up but not before trying to mould a matching Knob as one is missing. Ive seen the videos online of people using Silicon moulds and then casting using epoxy resin - will have to see how that turns out!

Cheers to all who have responded!

(I hope its better for the pot than WD40)

Hell yes! In my book, WD-40 has no place in electronics.

Have a look at the MSDS for so-called Classic WD-40:

Distillates (Petroleum), hydrotreated light, CAS 64742-47-8, 30-60%

CAS 64742-47-8 is Kerosene
