Hi folks,
I’m repairing a vintage mechanical wind up gramophone for a friend and need to repair the tone arm assembly where it mounts to the gramophone base plate.
The cast tone arm fits into its mounting and would be held firm by ball bearings. The bearings are long gone therefore the arm flops around. I’m wondering if someone can assist with some advice on repairing it or replacing it.

Now if you can work out how it lost its balls, there may be a way to sort it out. By working out how this little catastrophe happened, and how its balls escaped: Like what was retaining them? We can probably solve the problem.

If these ran away because of a missing part, or damage too the neck, we have a problem. If it is a case of some Monkey messing with it, then it just may be a case of working out their diameter & popping off to a Bearing Supplier as they normally have loose balls, & get some new ones, to once again take it from floppy to rigid.
