"Vintage Braun SK55 Radio, Turntable, Valve, Tube Amp, Speaker. Dieter Rams.

Built in 1963, the SK55 was the final, most beautiful and best-featured incarnation of Rams' and Gugelot's groundbreaking series which had been inaugurated in 1956 with the release of the SK4 at the Berlin Interbau; immediately dubbed by the German media as "Schneewittchensarg" ("Snow White's coffin") due to the pespex lid - then a world-first - and elegant white coachwork. With all that metalwork it looks more like lab equipment than a record player.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Yeah, but it shot up to $605 in a couple of days.

It still has 7 days to run. Will be interesting to see if there's a frenzy of bidding in the closing seconds.

I suppose it falls into the same category as the Peter Pan Boomerang console radio - unusual but still functional.

I reckon there will be a bidding frenzy - he got it right about the condition of the item. It looks like it just came out of the box.

With some 26 hours left to run, this auction has now reached $1,325.

No bidding frenzy at the end, but it was steadily heading for two grand when it closed at $1,912.

Here's another one that had no bidders, was re-listed with a buy-it-now of $450 and sold for that:

Braun's products looked extremely elegant and functional, but they didn't always function that well. You pay for the looks, mostly.
