If anyone knows about the history of these radios, please see my Post under General Discussion

Did you get it sorted?

Don't try to use this, it's downsized, as the original schematic contains errors,
and my guess is if you found one and followed it, you did not get it working.
Your timber cabinet is not original.
Email me if you still have it, and are interested in it still.
Cheers, Brek.

Hi Brek,
Radio went to a good home ... a guy who seemed to specialise in Military radios and other stuff.
I still have the old cabinet. Is very battered and currently serving as a possum house.
Cheers,
Ian

That gives me an idea for a holiday project. Build a possum house, then put a valve radio in it ;)

Hi Maven,
I would be happy to ship "possum and house" to you. ACT is just about far enough away .....
Have been keeping an eye on your AGC issues. It wasn't an easy circuit to understand. Have a look at some other circuits where the 2nd diode is used for AGC .... much easier to grasp the concept. AGC working??
Cheers,
Ian

I'm not sure I have totally fixed the AGC issues, but things have improved considerably since I swapped out a couple of resistors and found a possible short around V3. That project has been lying fallow for a while as other things have taken priority. It's also complicated by antenna issues - my workshop is semi-subterranean and very EMI-noisy. I'll get back to it with a clear head in due course, and report back in the original thread.
Re possums - thanks but no thanks. I have a well-appointed possum apartment in the rafters of my carport, but possums seem to prefer roosting in some red cedar planks that are stored in those rafters, from where they can comfortably urinate on the cars below. I need to find a schematic for the possum brain somewhere.

Maven, I'm in Geelong in the last 12 months I've caught 18 possums !! I caught so many I started thinking I was catching the same one so I started spray painting their backs in different colours so I could reconise them if I caught them again(because I was relocating them about 10km away in a bush park),they're cute I wish I could domesticate them but dont they do some damage they got into one of my sheds and almost destroyed it so radios-possums, its all dysfunctional.. Ron.

Hi Ron,
My possum is located not too far from you on the Surfcoast .... if I find a spot of paint I'll be sure to let you know ....
Cheers,
Ian

In some states it is illegal to relocate possums beyond a certain distance. They are territorial and foreigners are not treated well by the owner of a territory.
With this in mind it is highly likely that any relocated possums will return if they survive.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
