They had one of these where I boarded above a store on busy Sandgate Rd, Albion, Bris. in ~1971. By 1971 it was already a vintage TV but as I glanced at the picture I was stunned: The best picture I'd ever seen! Totally noise free (Cascode?), deep contrast + detail & lack of smear (maybe because IF had rounded response being modified damped version of original narrow band US design?)

Or maybe secret was (typically Admiral) simple, straight forward Video output design using unusual 6AC7? Admiral later used 12BY7 (don't like these for video - or audio - as in 1961 Harmon Kardon Amp)

Or more likely, was it a really good picture tube: Imported or Thomas?

If you can find one of these early 21" Admirals, get it!
