Hi, I need some help identifying and troubleshooting this TV.
The problem I'm having is when the TV is switched on I have sound but the very instant the sweep circuits starts the sound cuts out, and I'm left with a blank white raster. I have attached photos of the TV and chassis. If anyone has a circuit for this TV that would be very helpful. I believe it is a series 7 chassis.
Thanks, Rory

I noticed your TV has those 1N3194 silicon diodes made by Anodeon in the power-supply. I've had trouble with them in past. I'd do a check on these and would even replace them with some 1N4007's. The mustard Philips, the pink Anocaps & the Simplex polystyrene caps should be okay. I might also pay some attention to the electrolytic caps. You have already fired up your TV and the electros haven't exploded so they might be okay.
Cheers.

Your TV is an Astor model R11P-7 using the Series 7 chassis.
I have the circuit for it. If you unhide your email address I can send it to you, or if you like I can send it to Brad and have him put it in this thread.
If you are getting a normal raster with no picture or sound then this would indicate a no signal condition. As you get sound before the line output stage is fully operating, that suggests that it might be an AGC fault.
The first thing would be to confirm the HT supply is OK. Hook a meter up to the main HT supply straight after the HT smoothing choke at the positive terminal of the 200μF section of the large can style electrolytic capacitor. It should be around 185 volts once the TV has fully warmed up.
The voltages on the small 25μF can caps mounted on the chassis near the power supply are the HT2 and HT3 supplies. These should be a bit lower at around 145 to 175 volts. Anything under 135 volts at either of these points indicates problem.

It sounds like you have bad contacts in the turret tuner, you may need to spray them with contact cleaner & whiz the tuner all the way round back & forth!, My Kriesler P- 117 was doing a similar thing on certain channels, this method solved the problem!, if that doesn't work, maybe check the tuner valves & AGC circuit as previously suggested!
