Hi all.
I have come to a dead end in trying to find a service manual for a National NV-5120A (cartridge) video recorder.

I have tried the internet, and High Country Service Data, but have no luck. I am trying to work on one of these machines at present, but it is unlike anything I've worked on before, and it is eating very rare tapes.

There are some clips of the series NV- 5120 5110 5125 and 5130 on YouTube if anyone would like to see what they look like.

I also need the old style A/V plug EIAJ-2 E8M The mechanism is bizarre.

Thanks.

Wayne.

I love the smell of ozone in the morning.

Used to have a NEC RGB monitor that used the rectangular 8-pin plug, but I gave all that away a few years back. I thought I had a spare plug, but I haven't seen it for a long time so I was probably mistaken.

Last time I even saw one of those plugs (which many just called the square plug, which was odd because it ain't square) was on the back of a Thorn 53T1 telly that I once owned and used that connection to feed from a JVC U-Matic VCR, which weighed about as much as the telly, due to the size of the head drum in those things.

Now, to answer the question... I tried Jaycar, E14, RS Components and the other usual places and drew a blank.

I then found a patch cord on Ebay which is up for bids.

I am sure this is known, but these plugs only shift video. On the back of the telly mentioned above were two PL-259 sockets for the audio in/out. This setup allowed the VCR, which didn't have its own tuner, to use the TV's tuner for recording.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I have some of those plugs!
They were known as "EIAJ 8 pin".
When they became unavailable we had some made by Peaston, moulded onto cables.
These moulded plugs were virtually indestructible!

I also know the 5120.
Call me!
