I'm looking for a pair of rod antennas that will collapse into the TV.

The ones that fold down against the top are readily available but they won't work here because of the position of the holes.

It's for a Series 7 Astor, the one in the polished wooden cabinet. (As seen in "The Dish" for a few seconds.)

Not that they will be of any use in real life but their presence will improve an otherwise fairly tidy TV.

Try looking at what WES has to offer.

Wayne.

I did that Wayne. No use to me, has to disappear into the TV. The fold-down type are readily available.

Thanks

Sounds like the ones for a P1. I already gave away the ones from mine.

For what it's worth, I think this is the Astor part number. 4074-063-01.

It looks like the the Pye aerial EAJ 031 aerial is similar.

Part numbers and illustrations are in the Radio Parts Group catalogue for 1973 1974 1975 (one book) . Pages 380 and 381.

I have never had one of those portables. Their lovely wooden case made them too pricey to buy.

Wayne.

Not quite the same as the P1 rods but a pair of those would do.

I got a mint P1 given to me for Christmas! Had a shorted styro cap (!) on the IF AGC line and a leaky UCC Hi-Qual paper cap in the vertical. Now works a treat.

Yes Wayne those Astors are pricey. I got mine from a collector in Melbourne who already had a better example. This one has a few cracks in the poly on the top of the case and it's been rattled around in a caravan by the look of it.

The IF traps in mine have been mangled due to the tuner coming adrift so it needs realignment. Time to fire up the Rigol I borrowed from work and learn how to drive it!
