Hi Folks.

I have finally found out, what else, is wrong with the U.H.F rotary tuner in the Kriesler 59-01 television I'm working on.

From the damage I've found so far, it looks as though this set has had a
close encounter with lightning. Probably a proximity strike. Anyway I found the mixer diode to measure five ohms in each direction.
Another tuner I have here, its mixer diode measures a bit better.. Akin to a leaky diode. My last tuner, its diode measures good, although there is a short in the rotor/stator to be fixed.

What I need.

A source of SD82A or 1S750 diodes. Equivalents, haven't been able to find any. Research seems to indicate that Schottky diodes are now the go.

Surface mount diodes are not suitable as there are no radial leads to act as the input and output coils.

If you know a source of these diodes or an equivalent, please advise.

Wayne.

More research
.
A, 1SS -16 will do and probably a Phillips BA481, although its leads will need to be lengthened.

Did you try WES?

A 59-01 with a rotary UHF tuner? Now THAT'S a rare bird! Don't recall ever seeing one, and I did warranty service on them....

Hello All.
I have managed to find some 1SS86 diodes in China. Have ordered them and they ought to be here sometime in the next four to five weeks.

Being so small there can be no markings on the diodes, I will not know whether or not they are the genuine article until fitted in the tuner.

Wish me luck..

Wayne.

Thanks Wayne! It looks like the UHF is being a bugger. Glad you found some from O/S Smile
