Hi,
I have a Panasonic 'the one' and older AWA 68cm TV's I am wanting to give to a collector, The AWA cabinet is no longer good and TV does not work, The Panasonic nearly works...
Does anyone know anyone who would be interested in these older sets??
Many Thanks.

With analogue broadcasting being turned off here in a couple of months, the old sets are coming in fast at the local tip. Currently there are three B&W sets there; a Pye Masterpiece 601G, an AWA D56 console, and a HMV Regent. All are 23". The Regent is the least battered of this batch.

I visit the tip every week; it's been part of my routine for years! I love old machines.

I've rescued the Pye and HMV. The AWA's case was sadly to rotten to make it worth saving but I did salvage the chassis.

There's a 1965 Kriesler Fineline lowboy at the local antique market. 23", with chassis type 79-16 (I got the back off when no-one was looking!) The outside's in excellent condition, but it's "not working", so I think the asking price of $85 is a bit much.

They've dropped the price to $50. I'm tempted to buy it and repair it, but I've already got two other sets I'm fixing.

(Make that three, including the Plymouth. The Fineline's been sold, anyway.)

It seems the window of opportunity for saving old televisions has ended at Daylesford tip. Someone's smashing the sets for the copper yokes as soon as they come in.

I'm surprised it hadn't occurred earlier. It is a constant race between the metal salvagers and anyone who wants to save something.

At least the chassis seem to be mostly left alone so the wrecked sets may still yield useful parts.
