Have just purchased a 1958 GSJ 17" Astor Lowboy TV.

I'm after some advice on getting it restored electrically - I have an elec degree but this tech is way out of my league, and I really don't want to screw it up, even with schematics and youtube to help.

Can someone recommend a quality repairer in Melbourne that can get it up and running, with care for its vintage ? Wanting to keep it original as much as possible.

Have no idea what condition it is in, apart from the fact that it's pretty much original from the factory.

Cheers !

Looks like today's the day for early TV finds! Good to hear you want an authentic restoration.

I can do it but I'm in Sydney. Let's see who else responds closer to you.

Thanks Ian,

So far not much joy finding anyone local to take it on, but good advice and support to do it justice or nothing at all.. wise words Smile

Will keep looking, let me know if you come across someone in Vic with the tools / experience that you would recommend.

Steve.

There is a Guy in Melbourne who Repairs them

Suggest having Brad add him to the Services Directory here.

Unfortunately I haven’t heard of anyone who does it in Victoria publicly.
Only for themselves.
If only local ham meetings were going as you might find someone.
