I could collect it for you Pete.
I am in Melbourne on a semi regular basis.
It would fit in the back of my station wagon

Hi Pete

Bit the same as you, too busy with work & life.....
Would love some more time & space to muck around with my vintage TV's and record players but alas.........

Hope you have got over the flu, it can really knock you about.

Btw have you got my HMV Macquarie or does Ian still have it. ?
Glad he's having a holiday because I know he works very hard.

Steve

Hi Steve,
It would be at Ian's house Steve.
Yes, hell of a flu! The oddest flu I have ever had, one arm would ache or just one leg plus the normal things you get with the bug.
Over it now though, but you would not want it if you were old or very young that's for sure.
Pete

Hope the buyer doesn't use PayPal Smile

I once bid on a bunch pf LPs and was the only bidder so I won them for 99 cents. As it happened, I only wanted two of the bunch and they were in pristine condition so I told the seller I'd give him $10 for those two and he could list the others again. He said, "No take them all I just want to be rid of them" so he was happy to take $10 for the lot, and I gave away of the 18 or so LPs that I didn't want.

Hi G,
Well that's one thing I'm not going to sell! My Records! I have thousands of them for 1940 to the 90s
Mind you they have caused some heated conversations with girlfriends over the years , sell ya records! No, the answer is still no.
They can sell them after I'm either deaf or in that other place we go too.

Storage of them is a hassle . It takes up a complete room as the collection is over 6000 records. Cleaning them is a hassle too

I'd hate to have to move those from A to B. If those are mostly LPs and 78s I estimate that collection to weigh around 750kg in total. Do you have them all catalogued?

Yes it's over 6000 Lps and only about 400 45s.
At the moment I have them in the lounge room , hallway , one bedroom because I'm cleaning them and putting them in order again as they got mixed up a bit in storage in the one room.
I bought these over many years when Records were not worth as much as they sell for today , particularly first pressings, which is what most of these are.
I have no new records only the old originals.
Cleaning takes forever, you mix 50% water to 50% alcohol a couple of drops of rinse aid and away you go and pop on a new clear cover.
It's a very slow process and I feel like a factory worker , but on the bright side I have some very rare and nice Records to listen too.
Particularly on valve units the sound is as warm as you can get provided the record is the old cut not the new cut of new records.
I have tried learning to play instruments over the years , but I have to be honest and say I'm no good at it!

Pete

I have a lot of records but nowhere near what you have Pete.

Mine are the same, all original 1950's & 60's pressings.
Mostly all UK pressings because I particularly like the laminated flip back sleeves.

My wife constantly gives me grief about them but not too much because she collects vintage Barbie dolls.

I play them on vintage valve players and they sound fantastic.

Most of them are stored in vintage wooden cabinets from the era.

That's a great cleaning tip too Pete. I will try it.

Steve

Hi everyone,
Re the Maxwell TV that sold. I know the guy who bought it. It appears to be incomplete. Do we know who actually built the TV set and is there a circuit available for it?
Thx
Scott

It is probably a rebadged Precedent. There was a Electrical appliance retailer in Melbourne years ago called "Maxwell('s) The Price Stripper". Maybe their house brand?

A photo of the chassis and/or stickers, labels, or other marks may help to identify it.

Thanks - I have emailed Brad a couple of pics of the chassis that hopefully after he loads will help identify it.
The only number on the Chassis is 064140 and on the valve layout it states chassis 1/07.

Cheers
Scott
