The AWA 4KA was the first Australian version 26in CTV, that was based on the later UK Thorn 4000 CTV.

A laterl design, the C211- a swing up chassis, and if one wasn't careful it could come down on your head while you were probing voltages!!

In the early days of colour TV, an associate serviceman was finally able to pinpoint an extremely intermittent EHT "crack" over on the Thorn, by judicious use of a steaming kettle and timelapse camera pointed into the back, though a more standardised approach would be to replace all possible components currently.

There are some fabulous resources available online and free-back copies/scans of UK "Television" magazine-tech articles, stock faults, service info, on "Trove".

Wirelessfan, you are confusing the models a bit here....

The AWA 4KA was based on the British Thorn/BRC 4000 series, not the 3500 which was entirely different. We didn't see the 4000 series here.

I don't think anyone was silly enough to base anything on the 3500.....

And the swing up chassis was the HMV C211 and later. The 4KA chassis had two fold-out wings that were never in danger of falling on anyone.
