Have acquired a new HMV TV
It has PN Chassis with A2 style console cabinet.
Ian Robertson kindly tested the CRT before I committed to it and in Ian's own words it was the "deadest one he's ever tested.
Nevertheless the cabinet was excellent so I decided to purchase.
Ian has since acquired another suitable CRT (no easy task).
What has dampened my spirits is the cabinet was damaged by the freight company in transit to Ian from the seller.
Hopefully it can be fixed but disappointing as it has survived all these years without any damage.
A lesson to self, it would have been worth the 7 hour drive for me to collect it and avoid the risk of damage as freight companies just don't care.
Will keep you updated on the TV's progress.

It also depends on how well the seller packages the item in the first place. When I buy from overseas I go into a lot of detail about how I want the item packaged and remind the seller that cargo handlers and couriers along the route don't care at all about fragility so the packaging has to anticipate being handled carelessly, and I also state that neither of us wants the item to arrived damaged.
In the case of eBay, I send this via eBay messaging so that I can point to that correspondence if I need to make a claim against the seller. So far, so good.

Back in the Pye colour TV days, the TV packaging was tested so that the TV would survive a 6 foot drop onto concrete undamaged.
You really need foam corner pieces as part of the packing regime.
Stephen, if you aren't picking it up I have suitable packing pieces that are designed for very large, heavy and fragile flat-screen TVs.
Pete's dropping by tonight to look at it.

I'm thinking of maybe coming to pick it up Ian.
The worry of having it freighted again is too muchπ
I am praying it's an easy repair that Pete can fix.
I am not blaming the seller in this case, she went over and above what I expected packaging wise and was an absolute pleasure to deal with.
I should have thought of foam for the corners in retrospect.....I have learnt the hard way unfortunately.

TV itself is a runner, needed very little done, but still need to replace some pots.
Pete has had other commitments and hasn't been able to fix the corner yet.

Thanks for the update Ian
That's good news.
I was just curious to know if there were any other issues.
I know it is in safe hands with you and Pete. Thank you π
