Hi all,
As it turns out, I have a Predicta on its way from the US. Of course, these run from a 110V supply. Would the mains frequency make a huge difference? I know that Dick Smith used to sell (and hopefully still do) stepdown transformers, but I'm curious as to how any set will run on 50Hz. I'll start another thread on this when it arrives, I just hope the CRT is not damaged in transit.
I also will submit some pics of the yoke cap I made out of a caviar jar lid and 2 PVC fittings from Bunnings. A Dremel was invaluable for sculpting the parts into shape. It works a treat, not sure how it'll handle the heat though. I don't intend to run this set constantly, so I think it should be OK.
The pic sits a bit low on the screen, does that mean the centering magnets are a bit weak? Still very watchable, I'm using an RF modulator.
Cheers,
Adam

Be interesting to see how you go with the Predicta. Look forward to your new thread on it. It should be OK on our 50Hz mains but will go into that in more detail when you get it.
With the HMV centering, the two rings are designed to produce the least effect on centering when the tabs are opposite each other and maximum effect as the tabs are rotated closer together. If the tabs on the two rings are still apart at the moment you should still have some adjustment left to move the picture upwards by moving them closer together. You will probably need to readjust the centering again after, do this by moving the two rings together.

I have a Philco on its way from the US! More about that on a different post later.
I have emailed Brad some numbered pics of my home made yoke cap in progress of construction. It looks a bit unsightly, especially for those who like to keep the innards as original as possible. It works though, and allows me to centre the pic properly.
The PVC fittings came from the Plumbing section of Bunnings, the lid could come from anywhere, mine came from a caviar container bought at a local market, any lid with the right diameter would do. I also used a sheet of thin plastic to make all the lugs and other bits n' pieces. To do all the shaping, I used a Dremel and the glue I used was Selleys Ultra Repair.
In terms of video signal, I bought an RF mod from Jaycar, and a cheap and nasty DVD player with USB stick facility. With a set top box as well, I can pretty much have anything on this TV I want.
I have used an RF connection because I don't want to hack around too much. I want to keep the aerial terminals in use, even though I know the image could be better with a direct signal.
Hope this can help someone!
Cheers,
Adam
