Depends on the age Pete.
1st gen US TVs go for lots of bucks, by the time you get to '58 consoles they are free to good home. Like our late 60s ones are. With notable exceptions of course.

Hi Ian, oh yes very early models bring a Bob ,I actually like the 50s and early 60s sets. So they are often free or for $50 you can get an interesting tellie.
There has been a few Russian sets on lately too, you know the TV set that watches you! 😆😆. I'm told the Russian sets had a very short crt life, but I do see some great sets on there 4
Sale .
You know where there are some good TV sets that are worth some thought,! New Zealand!
I've seen them from time to time, which is a surprise because in the 60s money and jobs were tight in NZ , Remember they all had old bomb cars? Then the second hand Japanese import changed things.

I can answer for Pete on this one:
Consol was a brand used by Joyce Mayne at Auburn. AW Jackson (i.e. Precedent) used to make a few products for them with their brand. You can tell this one is a Precedent because of the fine tuning knob - it's an Astor tuner.
Joyce Mayne / Consolidated Appliances ended up absorbing KGH Industries and moving their TV factory to Auburn. They made an almost identical looking 3 in 1 using the KGH 1/07 chassis from memory.

Yes ,It's a nice old set in excellent cosmetic condition. Most of these models the fabric front would often Rot from light.
I looked for a very long time to find one of these ,but they were always rotting or torn fabric when they did come up for sale
Finally I did Found this one on Gumtree about 3 years ago. A guy had bought it from Dapto market and then sold it to me.
I paid $ 150 for it back then. One other fault they All seem to get is A broken leg mount where it screws on to a nasty cheap thin bit of chipboard.....I have improved the design on mine . Note for those who have never seen one of these, It's a metal cabinet lined with chip board and is a 263 Jackson chassis.
And ya cant buy one at the Mall!😋😋😋

It amazing what you see. I have a Marelli "Breezo" fan in one shed. Paid $5 for it years ago. One sold on flea Bay for over $3K. Trying to steal mine could result in a nasty accident, its cast iron & heavy. The shed is log construction & the one holding it up has been there for over a century. Bearings last serviced 2012.
