TV Collector: "C81 is the bootstrap capacitor on the circuit"

Ah! yes, only on the T-25 apparently, positive (bootstrap) AC feedback from the emitter to the base. Makes sense now.

True to the Pye engineer's stated philosophy, the T-26 eliminates 2 pots, the white level and the black level set-up, that were present in the T-25. But he adds a "cheaper" transistor for DC restorer.

The T-25 must have had the best picture of all the portables.
