Many of you would have seen the two photos of some of my radios on the temporary site. This is what has happened to the shelving in the second photo - it has got a little bit bigger. More photos to come as I unravel my radio collection and start displaying the better-looking ones.
Some of those in this photo still need a clean up and there's three or four vacant spaces still for some good radios. These spaces will get filled very soon.

Brad, what's the name of the radio at top right, under the horn speakers? I've got one in a nice shiny case, but it's missing the dial, the drum, the dial cord, the knobs etc. Electrically it works though.
Also, I notice a bunch of really old stuff along the top - there's an antique shop in Wollongong with a whole bunch of that kind of thing. They want a lot though, and the shop stinks of the numerous dogs they keep there all day.

That's quite a display. Going by the wall vent and picture rail, it looks like the room's vintage is appropriate too.

Robert, it's an Airzone 'Theatrette' or 'Proscenium', depending on what part of the country you are in. These came in a few models and I can't recall if the dial glass is the same on all of them. This one is a battery model for farm use. There were at least two cabinet styles too, this one and another that had knob labels built into the front panel. This one is a badge-engineered Peal.
GTC, the house is a fairly typical late 1930s Californian Bungalow. Hot in summer and cold in winter, as the fire places are no longer useful. The house is a good match for the radios.

In the 1980s I owned a Federation house with similar seasonal characteristics. The previous owner had ripped out the cast iron fireplaces and sold them, covering up the gaps with plywood. When I got the roof re-tiled I had the chimneys removed as they were ready to fall down owing to the crappy lime mortar used back in the day.

In the third bedroom, which was once the dining room, there is a roughcast fireplace but it has been painted throughout and has carpet at the bottom of the hearth. I think the chimney is now used by the rangehood exhaust from the kitchen which is on the other side of the wall. As for the lounge room, the fireplace is the same tuckpointed brick as the front of the house. There is no chimney to speak of and going by the appearance of the gable, tiles and the roofspace there never was one, though there may once have been a Kosi stove as the hearth is about the right size for one. No stove though and again, some brainiac has carpeted the thing.

Brad: thanks for the info. Mine is mains-powered with octal valves and an electromagnet speaker. All the labels are missing.
Like most of my collection, it's scheduled for eventual dumping when I get around to it.

I need to downsize in a few years, and there won't be room for 180 (or whatever it is) radios. Selling, packaging and all the hassle that entails won't be happening. So, when the time comes I'll put a notice here (if the forum is working) for anyone who wants to come collect them. If nobody does, then they will be dumped.

I can well appreciate your reluctance. Although I'm no fan of some (most?) of them, 'estate-clearers' can be an efficient way of getting rid of lots of stuff in one fell swoop, with some cash in hand at the end of the process.
There's one estate-clearer on eBay that I've bought from a few times and he seems to be a decent fellow.

Depending on the radio (I won't want any that I already have, etc) I'd be happy to collect and pay a reasonable sum for them. This is the beauty of staying off Ebay and having a garage sale. Just post the date here and the fans will come. You won't have to spend time giftwrapping them either - that's down to the buyer.
In the past when I have bought radios and I've run out of boxes or room in the boot I carry them as passengers and put the seat belts on them. They've always arrived home safe.

Now that I've gotten my licence I'd be more than willing to drop by when you downsize there Robert.
As Brad, I'd be willing to pay any reasonable price.
Old gear is too good just to be dumped

I powered up the Airzone last night and it works very well indeed. The original valve lineup is 6A8G, 6G8G, 6F6G, 5Y3G however a few valve replacements over the years have changed it to 6A8G, 6G8G, 6V6GT, 5Y3GT.
It has an internal spiderweb antenna and that is enough to produce lots of volume, probably the maximum you could get from a 4-valve set.
In normal circumstances I'd send a photo but....

If you want a photo published, I've changed my e-mail address. Just click on my username to access the temporary one.
On and off I've been trying to set up a new mail server but I've been having issues with the relaying function. I think I am losing the mojo with IT related stuff. Soon I will just set the old account back up on DomainCentral, where I have all my other addresses hosted.
