Hi everyone.

I’ve just joined up and thought I’d introduce myself. My name is Mark and I live in Sydney (most of the time). I’ve had an interest in old radios since I was in my teens when I bought a 1937 Airzone model 669c radiogram from an op shop for $10. I lugged the thing home almost giving myself a hernia in the process. I still have it 37 years later and although it is now reluctant to pull in a station it can still belt out a 78 record. Time for (another) overhaul.

I haven’t been very active in buying radios for a while as my interests include gramophones, phonographs, clocks and classic cars. Certainly enough there to keep me poor. Most of my radio buying was in the 70’s when paying $15 or $20 for a AGE Duette was considered a bit excessive. But all of a sudden I felt the need to acquire a few more interesting radios just to clutter up the house a bit more. Prices seem to have gone up a tad.

Anyway, when I can work out how to do it I will attach a picture of the Airzone (I have the missing knob). I look forward to what the group can offer.

Mark

G'day Mark,

It looks like we have something in common. I began my collecting back when I was around 17 or 18 and have had a few spells since then but never really got sick of the hobby - it's too addictive for that, as you'll soon know.

If you have photo(s) you'd like included in your post just e-mail them to me and I'll add it for you. My e-mail address is on my profile page.
