Hello everyone,

I was having a scroll through the different forum lists, and I saw this one, so I thought I'd say hi. Here I am xD
I got my first Kriesler radio a couple of years ago from a neighbour who had restored it. He gifted it to me a couple of years ago after we made a crystal radio together. I think thats where my first interests with radio and television came from. If I find a photograph I'll see if I can post it.

I got my first television a few years after that (an ECKO TC215) and after being terrified of the electronics inside, gutted it (sacrilegious!! I regret it deeply now..) and put a monitor and hooked up a cheap Chromecast so I could use it in my room. I wasn't too happy with it, but it sufficed for the moment.

Fast forward to a couple months ago, and was looking at that EKCO sadly. I thought that it looked terrible and had to avenge it from its modern internal-y death. So I put up a flyer in the local shop, and an advertisement on facebook. I ordered 'Servicing Television Receivers' from eBay and some HDMI to RCA, and RCA to antenna converters. Quickly enough I got my hands on two TVs, a mid-late sixties Philips.. something and a Calstan.. something (I just posted a thread on that, have a look if you can be bothered). I'm still building up and inventory of equipment, but I have the basics.

I'm also working on a computer program on a Raspberry Pi 3 so I can have 1950s-1960s TV shows and movies that play automatically as soon as you turn on the television. If you are interested, here is a video that outlines the basics: https://youtu.be/ng9nKvCNBWY?si=xe83J9PxD9FFGsm7 . Although this guy's program is for a 1990s TV set, the basic idea is the same.

I look forward to everyones expansive knowledge on this amazing subject, and getting to know the people that hold it!

Thanks,
Oli

Welcome to the forum, and hopefully you can find the information you need.

Your avatar isn't working, it appears you've used one that is local to your computer, and therefore not available to the rest of us.

I'm glad to be here!
Yeah I figured as much, I sent Brad (Does he go by Brad or "The admin"?) an email with my avatar.
