Hi - Another new member here.

New to Radio Restoration, but I've had a (little) bit to do with Radios and Electronics over the years.

Live in Baulkham Hills, NSW - so quite handy to the Winston Hills meetings.

I've got two radios awaiting restoration, one - an Astor KK Radiogram - which I really quite like, and the second - an STC of some kind. This is about as close as I can narrow it down to at the moment - one of these three.

STC 1939 543T 543 AC DW Con. 5 455 6K8G, 6U7G, 6Q7G, 6AG6G, 5Z4G AORSM '40/41 295
STC 1939 543U 543 AC DW Con. 5 455 6K8G, 6U7G, 6Q7G, 6AG6G, 5Z4G AORSM '40/41 295 R.E.R. 30/11/39 32 28/7/0
STC 1940 543A 543 AC DW RG 5 455 6K8G, 6U7G, 6B8G, 6V6G, 5Z4G AORSM '40/41 295 See also AORSM 40/41 P 294

I've put a few photos up on my Web Page - feel free to check them out and let me know what you think.

https://myshed.mooo.com/Radio-STC543.html

Don't pay too much attention to the Web Page itself - its a new site and I've still got a lot of work to do ...... in fact the Astor KK link doesn't work at all as yet - but I'll get some photos up at some stage - but the STC 543 link works, so check that out and let me know what you think about my new baby.

I'm looking forward to getting stuck in..... Smile

Cheers.

Gordon

Welcome to V-R.

My Avast Antivirus would not let me connect to your site saying "malware threat detected". That may be a false positive, but it could pay to run a few antivirus tools over your site's code.

That's a bit disappointing!!

I'll look into why that is happening - my WebPage is on my server at home and running behind my firewall - I built the server myself, wrote the web pages myself - so I know there is nothing malicious on there - the only thing I didn't write is a free hitcounter - I will take that off and see if it makes any difference.

I've removed the Hit Counter - and run my site through half a dozen Malware detectors - they all say its clean.

Has anybody else had any issues viewing my site/photos?

Thanks

Gordon

I can now access the site, but Avast says "threat has been detected" when I click on the Shop tab (it doesn't complain about the other tabs) and mentions a bootstrap.js file, for what that's worth.

Regarding your radios, according to Radiomuseum all STC543 versions used the same chassis and there's schematic for the STC543J here:

https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/stcaus_543j_ch_543.html

(Non-members can download a limited number of schematics from that site per period of time.)

If you need the Astor KK schematic then unhide your email address via Control Panel, I'll send you that and the alignment notes.

Thanks GTC.

I've downloaded the Schematic for the 543 - I'm sure it will come in really useful.

I have also unhidden my eMail address and I'd really appreciate whatever you can send me on the KK - I must admit to really liking the KK - I hope I can get it working again.

As for the "Shop" - I don't sell anything - that was just me playing around with the OpenCart eCommerce software - and that was my Sandpit. You will also see a Forum site there - again - its just me playing around with phpBB Bulletin Board Software.

Thanks for the pointers for the schematics Smile

Gordon

OK, email sent.

I am able to see your Forum page. There's something in one of your scripts that triggers Avast's malware detection, which may be too sensitive, but it has saved my bacon a number of times.

No dramas here.
With the STC I spy the pot metal gears in the tuning dial. There are reproductions available for them, if yours is broken.
