I am new to this forum. I have started collecting old bakelite radios and when I retire in 6 months plan to spend my time repairing them. I am not very familiar with the technological aspects of repairing so will have to rely on reading up and assisstance from those who do know.

I got interested in them twelve months ago when I saw one in an antique/collecables store here in Tumba. I said at the time I wouldnt mind having it but left before I spent any money. However my wife purchased it and gave it to me and then it all started. I now have 10 valve radios.

I guess the main reason I like them is that I like early history of anything and we had one of these old bakelite mantle radios at home as a kid and a floor type radio which was huge. I wish we still had them.

Anyway thats my introduction to radios and you will hear from me again looking for technical answers from time to time such as how to look for problems and how to age a Radio.

Thanks

Cheers Terry

Welcome Terry,

Check out the following site. You can't do better than it, not only for a beginner but also for someone like me who started his apprenticeship in 1959 and who has never stopped learning.

Kind Regards,

Rudy
