Hi everyone,

Thanks for having me along.

I'm a retired ex telecom and computer tech who dabbles in all things nerdy from astronomy to z80's.

I have a large collection of old valves, and several valve testers along with other test gear.

I mostly use my treasured AVO CT160 that I got from long defunct treasure house Direct Disposals in Brisbane.

I started collection old radios, TVs and valves long long ago when I was about 8 years old and used to pester my grandfather to take me to the tip where I could pull valves out of all and sundry bits and pieces.

I also have lots of old service info like every edition of JR manuals for TVs and radios from the dawn of Aussie TV right into the colour years.

Im happy to try and help where I can with circuits etc.

Thanks,
Raff

when I was about 8 years old...

And here I am thinking I was young when I started - at about age 17.

Welcome to the forums Raff.

Yes its true, I was around 8 years old when I started collecting electronic doodads.
I put it down to my natural curiosity which has at times got me into lots of trouble like when I was quite young I used to pull all the valves out of the family AWA TV to look at them, and panic when dad came home and just shove them in wherever they fit. Dad would turn the set on to watch the news, bang it on the head and swear at it, and go next door to the local TV tech who knew Id been in the back. Smile

I had a similar curiosity though knew better than to try something like that. As a kid I was in strife for too many other reasons.
